Woodard had one of the performances of the tournament with his 30-point game in the semifinal win over Lake Washington. His seven threes were a huge boost in that one that helped lift Richland over the Kangs and into the title game. Over the entire tournament, he was tied for third in both total 3PM and 3PT%. He was a consistent third option to help Richland take some weight off of their top two scorers, while also providing some relief and reliability handling the rock. And that 30-point eruption was a big reason the Bombers secured the 4A title.

It’s only fair that Horntvedt and Northrop get a lot of the praise and attention when talking about the Richland Bombers, but Woodard also plays a key role as that consistent third scoring option, and relied upon ballhandler who can make smart, quick decisions. He’s been dialed in from 3-point range this season (42%), and he’ll need to keep that up this tournament when teams try to key in on stopping Horntvedt and Northrop.

Woodard is a calm and composed guard who will take what the defense gives him. Has had some big scoring games this summer and is a kid you don’t want to leave open behind the arc. And while he can score with efficiency, he’s also relied on at Richland to have that steady play bringing the ball down and getting them into their offense, as well as making some key passes in the halfcourt to shift defenses.

Woodard stepped into Richland’s starting unit this year and fit right in as a reliable ballhandler and decision-maker. He has a good head, sees the floor well on both ends, and was able to pick his spots well whether it was being ready to shoot from the perimeter or attacking space. He plays a pretty level-headed style of hoop and is comfortable dropping in shots from each level while remaining a balanced point guard.

Richland is 14-0 on the year, and while they have two guys getting a lot of the attention for that, Woodard has also been a key piece stepping up to lead not just the team but the league in assists per game (4.3). He’s also turned it over just 18 times in those 14 games while showing some defensive ability with 2.1 spg. He plays a lot like his brother Josh who was a standout on the court, leading Richland to the 4A title game last year. Jackson will be a kid to watch, and he surely will continue to rise as we get to see more of him on the hardwood.
