After falling behind by 20 points in the first half, CATS Acadeny had a furious second half comeback tbat pushed the game to overtime. Valters ended up leading his team in scoring with an efficient game from across the board. Valters had a shot in the paint, a couple 3-pointers and made 6/8 free throws. That level of scoring balance allows you to have a quietly explosive scoring output in a tight contest. A surefire Division I target, Valters should see his recruitment spike this summer.

Valters, out of CATS Academy in Massachusetts, checks in at #2 among the point guards and #13 overall. Valters is a 6’3″ lefty that has a great feel for the game with the ball in his hands. He’s able to quickly change directions as a downhill driver, shows high level floor vision as a facilitator, and can finish over size in the paint with touch. He has good size for the position, makes high level decisions both in transition and in the half-court, and consistently delivers quality passes to his teammates in scoring positions.

Valters is in a dream situation with CATS. He has scorers and lob threats everywhere and is having quite a field day with his passing vision and floor general capabilities. The 6-foot-3 guard has an amazing feel and great discernment in the pick and roll when it comes to picking his spots to be aggressive vs. getting his teammates involved. He can shoot it from three, he has great floater touch, and he has surprisingly solid speed and burst to the hoop. He’ll only continue to build chemistry with his new teammates and should be garnering scholarship looks.

CATS has found a gem in Valters, and I can’t imagine he’ll be coming off the bench for too much longer after his incredible performance at NEBL session 1. The 6-foot-3 point guard is so smooth with the dribble and has complete command of the other 9 players on the court when he has the rock. He can make every pick and roll read in the book, and he knows when to be aggressive and get to his floaters, mid range jumpers, or threes. Defensively, he’s annoying to go against and makes multiple efforts on every possession—some added strength and weight would make him even more competitive on that end. Bright future ahead for Valters, who’s only a junior.

Crafty player, high IQ and is a quiet scorer. As the point guard, he can stretch the floor from deep, make efficient passes leading to a handful of assists in a game with minimal turnovers. His defense is above average even with a lean lanky frame but deceptively strong. He baits the opponents into fouls which create offensive opportunities or extra possessions for his team. Definitely will get D1 offers or would have a special D2 career in college.
