Basquez has been a consistent cover over his freshman season at Smoky Hill and continued growth throughout the summer, leading into this current fall. Adept as a perimeter shooter from a standstill or self created dribble move, the guard brings immense skill to the table. Another area of value is his willingness as a facilitator, showing a desire to take on more responsibilities with the ball. Defensively, the guard can match up with multiple positions and maximize his wide reach to quickly alter decisions. If needed to guard up and down lineups, Basquez has welcomed the opportunity, not shying away from any matchup. Exciting season ahead for Basquez and an especially talented Smoky Hill team.
Smiley made a notable impact, regardless of his class, for Windsor during their dominant season and eventual 5A Final Four run. Effective attacking the paint for finishes versus contact and contests, the guard has already shown potential as a composed scoring threat under pressure. Throughout the summer, with club and showcase events, Smiley displayed upside at hitting spot-up attempts from beyond the arc. His impact playmaking for teammates will be intriguing this season, gaining a much different opportunity than last season.
A strong forward who brings potential spacing the floor, Fiedler is another prospect stepping into a larger role with their program. Taking on greater opportunities both in the post and perimeter, the forward already displays a diverse portfolio. Capable out-muscling opponents down low on finishes, Fiedler looks to have steady production out of the gates. His continued growth handling the ball will be especially intriguing, given how it would create a multitude of opportunities for himself and Regis Jesuit. Looking to make a big impact on a new look team, we will get a better picture of Fiedler’s toolbox.
Highlights
Following an excellent freshman season, Moskowitz has continued to affirm his consistency and steady impact versus older opponents. Efficient as a floor spacer, they do a great job knocking down quick shots open or contested. Effective relocating quickly on three point attempts, off the dribble or maneuvering off-ball. Attacking the rim is another area of upside, effectively attacking the baseline for kick outs or reverse finishes. Moskowitz’s big frame should allow him to be a steady free throw contributor, of which he is knockdown. His strength defending bigger guards should aid him on defense, allowing him to slide up if necessary.
Hammond has immense upside scoring the ball off the bounce while retaining value matching up with both backcourt opponents. Especially potent scoring off the dribble, the guard does well changing speeds to leverage space on shot attempts. Capable of getting off shots in traffic or off-balance, the guard has displayed plenty of potential throughout preseason events. His opportunities at Cherry Creek should provide more context on the guard’s impact. Hammond’s ability to draw in plenty of gravity shot aid in his facilitating as well.
