Hammond could very well lead the state in scoring this season, bringing soft touch on mid-range jumpers and attempts at the rim. An exceptionally quick athlete in the open floor, there are only a handful of names who can keep up with him once with a head of steam. Handling himself on the defensive end, he is Cherry Creek’s best point of attack defender, quick to take away space and wall off the lane.

While Hammond already had productive numbers of 13.4 points and 4.7 rebounds per game this past season, his opportunity has increased dramatically in off-season tournaments. Putting on a clinic at Section 7, the guard scored from all areas of the floor, averaging 30 points per game. Adept in the mid-range or off the catch, Hammond is lethal from anywhere, not to mention he drew his first Division 1 offer from Northern Colorado. Hammond got to his spots with ease, quicker than the vast majority of opposing perimeter defenders. His explosive moves to create space on drives and pull-up shot attempts were intriguing to say the least. Dependable reading ball screens to leverage the defense and target weak points, Hammond is a particularly quick thinker with the ball. Continuing to gain strength while improving his acceleration, the guard is primed for a big year at Cherry Creek. This is on top of the fact that Hammond has one of the smoothest mid-range jumpers in the state, but why he gets to those attempts on such volume is in equal parts from his quickness with the ball.
