Carter Carter Holstein | 2026 CO Basquez is an all around star who can annihilate any opponent guarding him. Basquez is best at shot creating and getting open looks for himself. At 6’6, Basquez is still one of the quickest players on the floor and uses his frame to his advantage. Basquez should reaffirm why he’s one of the best player in the state in this playoff matchup.

Basquez was nearly unstoppable in transition, drawing contact and scoring through physical contests. Drawing numerous fouls around the rim, the guard went right at opponents, bringing soft touch around the rim. Still a serviceable lead guard who sees above the defense, he brings a jack of all trades skill set on the offensive end. Defensively, he held his own versus forwards and guards, bringing a competitive mindset at the point of attack. 

A jack of all trades who impacts the game on both ends, Basquez is a lanky guard found ways to impact the game at all times. Comfortable facilitating out of ball screens, he found multiple rollers deep in the paint through timely passes. The handle at 6’6 makes him such a unique playmaker, especially at this event where he saw above most defenders. Defensively, his wide reach allows him to contest shots or deflect passes at a high volume, certainly a two-way name worth following. 

Holding offers from a variety of division 1 programs, Basquez remains a steady two-way athlete with a fairly advanced perimeter game. Capable of creating space for pull-ups or on the drive, Basquez continues to find success one on one. Arguably the most versatile prospect on both ends within the state, Smoky Hill is set for another competitive season with the 2026 guard at the helm. 

Basquez brought a notable point of attack defense, as one of the better perimeter defenders in the state when locked in. As well as an excellent defensive option in transition, he was the recipient of multiple chase down blocks, never giving up on the play. His wide reach and mobility allow him to disrupt numerous plays, getting a hand into the opponents more often than not. Still a skilled finisher around the rim, his ability to contort the ball through tight windows with the length makes him a troublesome opponent stop once in the paint. His quick first step paired with the long strides get him immediate access into the lane, an often recipient of drawn fouls. 

Basquez brings excellent defensive tools to defend 1 through 3, adding to Smoky Hill’s notable defensive versatility. Knockdown behind the arc, the guard remains a key floor spacer for this team, alongside his large role handling the ball to set up this group’s offense. Routinely taking advantage of driving lanes given his shooting gravity from over aggressive closeouts, his long strides get him deep into the paint with ease. Among the best prospects in the whole state, Basquez looks to make another title run in due time with Smoky Hill.
