Class of 2025 Rankings: 6-10 Breakdown

How much should be weighted on freshman season production? Or what about the growth during a busy spring and summer of grassroots basketball? Potential vs Production? How much does level of competition matter? And on and on.   At this stage in a player's development, it's about gathering information and trying to project ranges of outcomes for a player's future. Current production can be fool's gold because a player matured faster than others in his grade, and late bloomers catch up. Or the tantalizing potential that a player shows at a young age never materializes and it becomes foolishly to keep valuing the prospect while a group of "lesser" talents continue to out produce them. Scenarios like those and more have played out in Oklahoma for the years now, and will continue to do so in this class. Meaning that nothing is set, and this is a simply a snapshot of the current believed potential of players in this class.   Did anybody actually read that preamble? I suspect that many are still fixated with the "number next to the name" analysis. Because that is what gets the views and visceral reaction. Or simply scrolled right by this meandering background info to either enjoy the praise of a certain player or get upset and disagree with the analysis. Or don't.     #6 [player_tooltip player_id='1475987' first='Davon' last='Scott'], 6'2 Guard, Douglass   After limited opportunities at Edmond Santa Fe as a freshman, Scott grew with the increased opportunity he received on a competitive 15U spring and summer with Buddy Buckets. During an in person viewing in Arkansas in late March, Scott made an impression as a shooting specialist with good size for a 15U prospect. Fast forward a few months and he's now established as not only an excellent shooter but one of the best scorers in this age group. He made waves with big scoring numbers at some of the top of the regional tournaments in Texas in July. This included a strong performance against fellow Oklahoma prospects from Team Griffin.   Watching a replay of that game on BallerTV showed that Scott is more than just a shooting specialist. He looked impressive as a driver in it, with a combination of improving athleticism and good feel with a slippery driving style to avoid traffic around the rim. Scoring is a big part of Scott's DNA as a player, and it will be very interesting to watch how the rest of his game fills out around that crucial building block.   #7 [player_tooltip player_id='1358852' first='Cal' last='Furnish'], 5'11 Guard, Crossing Christian Few players in this state can claim to have a more impactful freshman season than Furnish with the 4A Semifinalist Crossing Christian. He stepped into a bigger scoring role due to a mid season injury and shined throughout the season. For the spring and summer, he made up the second part of Buddy Buckets' dynamic backcourt with the aforementioned Scott.   In that impressive July win vs Griffin, Furnish stood out with his work in ball screens. He has a keen awareness of where the weakness is in the defense, and how to attack it. When defenders went under, Furnish was very capable of making them pay by stepping into pull up jumpers. Not only a scorer in those scenarios, he's a strong passer and creator for his teammates. Right now the lead guard might be the most consistent player in this class. He's on the smaller side which could give college coaches some pause, but consistent production and growing leadership should keep the Crossings PG among the best in this class.   #8 [player_tooltip player_id='1475985' first='Khai' last='Brown'], 6'2 Guard, Putnam City North   Another player that made waves with his scoring ability at this age group this spring-summer, Brown has a chance to be one of the more dynamic scorers in the Oklahoma City area this winter. He's the type of athlete that makes it looking easy when getting by opponents off the bounce with smooth movement. The impressive looking 2025 guard has a dynamic trait in his ability to attack the rim and has flashes as a shooter that could elevate him even higher in this class as a complete scorer.   At North this winter, the Panthers have a pair of very talented seniors that should carry the scoring load this winter. If teams are too focused on Baker and Smith, it's a very good chance Brown will make them pay.   #9 [player_tooltip player_id='1391438' first='Domaunique' last='Stephens Jr'], 6'0 Guard, Putnam City   From a pure point guard/team leader standpoint "DJ" will likely be battling it out with Furnish for top point guard honors throughout the next few seasons. As a freshman, he shot it well in off the ball opportunities, did a good job of taking care the ball when given opportunities and rarely made mistakes as a ballhandler. He looked like a jack of all trades guard, but a master of none. In a few different viewings this spring-summer, he showed more of a spark and aggression, especially on the offensive end. While still a good decision making and creator, he started to grow as a scorer.   Now comes a big step for Stephens Jr at a new program. The new Pirate at Putnam City will have plenty of opportunities to lead the way this winter for a younger team. There's good fundamental building blocks in DJ's game, it's now about building consistency onto that base.   #10 [player_tooltip player_id='1391442' first='Tristan' last='Hankins'], 6'2 Guard, Moore   Rounding out the top 10 is another one of the top shooters in the Class of 2025. Hankins stepped up in various moments throughout his freshman season for a Lions team that made a run to the Class 6A State Title game. He's right there with Scott as one of the best pure shooters in the 2025 Class. A claim he backed up with a very productive end to his summer with Team Trae Young's 15U team against national competition.   Hankins recently picked up an offer from Oral Roberts in Tulsa, which is a great sign as he'll be expected to play a much bigger role for the Lions this winter. Right now he's a lanky two guard with a sweet shooting stroke, it'll be exciting to see how his games grows with more offensive opportunity.
