About Isaiah
Expert Analysis

Wilks had a phenomenal senior season in which he led the Falcons to a 27-2 record and a second consecutive state title. The senior is headed to Louisiana-Lafayette and will take his versatile game to the college level next season. Wilks averages just over 20 points per contest in the state tournament, while also leading his team in steals. Look for his quickness and tenacity on defense to show up early at the college level.

Winner is the best way to describe Wilks. After leading the Falcons to the Class 3A championship last year, he one opened it by quarterbacking the Falcons to an undefeated season against Oklahoma competition. Which has made them arguably the best team in Oklahoma all season long. He’s an old school floor general, who’s best assets are his consistency and quickness. Plays with a non stop motor, from pressuring the rim to score himself and create for others. While also playing tough as nails defense. With his improved three point jumper over the last two years, there’s no holes in Wilks’ offensive game. Leaving no doubt as he picked up his second State Championship medal, and is starting to fill his personal trophy case with Player of the Year Awards.

has a really high chance of being the Gatorade Player of the Year. He has been dominant all year, posting multiple 20-plus-point games and filling up every column on the stat sheet. He’s a savvy, aggressive point guard who gets to his spots on the floor. He can facilitate, defend 94 feet, and explode off the ground. Everything you want in a player, Wilks has.
He won a big matchup over another Gatorade Player of the Year candidate, and he did it in impressive fashion. In mid-January, he and the Millwood Falcons made the drive to Tulsa to take on the Booker T. Washington Hornets. This game was the most anticipated matchup of the season, as two of the best guards in the state were set to go head-to-head. The highly anticipated showdown between Wilks and Joc Mitchell lived up to the hype, and Wilks came out on top, pouring in 21 points and leading all scorers in a 15-point victory over the defending 5A state champions.
Wilks has proven to be a vocal leader for the Falcons and has played a huge role in their successful season, as they sit at 21–2 heading into the playoffs. If Wilks can win back-to-back state championships this year, it could propel him to Gatorade Player of the Year.

Wilks is the man at the controls of Oklahoma’s best team, which raise the question: is he player of the year? Millwood’s win over Booker T Washington earlier this month is a strong case for his candidacy. He’s the heartbeat of the Falcons. Never looks flustered and seemingly always looks locked in. Always hits timely jumpers in the mid-range and from three. Locks up on defense, and seems to fill his teammates with energy and leadership.
There’s nothing too flashy about the senior guard. He simply produces. Louisiana is a fitting landing spot, as their head coach Quannas White was a no frills, tough as nails guard on the 2002 Oklahoma final four team. So who better for the son of the NBA player to continue his basketball education under?

One of the top developments in the Louisiana signee’s game over recent years has been his jumper. His shooting and overall presence were the key to Millwood closing out Crossings in the fourth quarter. Has a knack for the big moments, knocking down crucial threes when needed to help spread the floor against the packed in zone Crossings played. Vocal presence throughout the game, encouraging and playing the role of the coach on the floor with the adjustments he helps his teammates make. True floor general, a rare find today in a world of combo guards.

Starting and closing this list with two players from a program that many would consider the top defensive team in Oklahoma. Wilks is a complete guard, who plays with a chip on his shoulder. Picks up 94 feet and plays smart by balancing when to simply harass and when to gamble for turnovers. Type of defender who’s energy is contagious to his teammates.

Smaller guards need to be tough, play with pride and be winners. Oh and hitting shots from distance is nice too. During his title winning campaign for Millwood, Wilks shot it better from three. And that carried into July with Mokan. This has led to additions to his offer list, with Bowling Green, Rice, Texas A&M Corpus Christi and Jacksonville State. With NBA pedigree, production against national competition and in state dominance, Wilks is proving to be the current poster boy for “heart over height” guards.

Winners win, and that’s what Wilks continues to do for a MOKAN squad positioning themselves to make a run at next week’s Peach Jam title. The Millwood guard had 13 points, handed out 3 assists and impressively was recorded 4 steals in the win. Wilks is a producer, who plays with the required chip on his shoulder and pride needed for sub 6 foot guards to make a big impact. And he’s proving that on the national level once again.

The second half was money time for Wilks and Millwood. Earler in the game he hit jumpers, showing off the improvement he’s made in that regard this year. But in the fourth, it was the dynamic guard getting downhill and making plays in transition. He’s quick, tough and a gamer. Even blocking a late three point attempt where it felt like he flew in out of nowhere. Wilks has now added a State Championship to his resume, fitting of the pride and toughness he plays wiht.

Wilks has established his bonafides as a true floor general this year. He’s led Millwood through arguably the toughest schedule in Oklahoma, with signature wins over Moore, Southmoore, Booker T Washington, Crossings (twice), Lincoln Christian, Cascia Hall and more. In some of those games, he’s needed to score (check the 40+ points in the win over Cascia). Other games his job is to lock in on defense and distribute on offense. With the improvements he’s made as a shooter, there’s no weaknesses on his scouting report. Especially as with his combination of athleticism, IQ and pride, he produces like a taller guard. Winner.
