The Falcons were able to rout Roland, 83-41 in the championship game. Barrett chipped in with 11 points and was a driving force defensively yet again. The Ball State signee plays with such incredible energy and effort night in and night out. His activity and commitment to the defensive side of the floor will without a doubt serve him well at the next level as he looks to continue his development as a player. Amari averaged nearly a double-double this season, with 17.3 points and 9.7 rebounds per contest.

Barrett finished his high school career the exact same way it’s been since he stepped on the court for Millwood as a sophomore. As an absolute dog with arguably the best motor in the state. He pulled down a game high 14 rebounds in the title game, and averaged a double double for the tournament. Along with his remarkable intensity on the glass, he has some of the quickest hands in the state. Leading to pick pocket steals, big time blocks at the rim and deflections. Finished his high school career with back to back State Titles.

Barrett was the best player on the floor in the Millwood and Community Christian game. The senior scored 25 points and was a force on both ends of the floor. His ability to grab rebounds and finish around the rim was on display early as he was able to score on put backs offensively. On the defensive end, he started the break on multiple occasions, creating easy opportunities for both himself and teammates. Barrett has a unique ability to guard different positions and put a ton of pressure on ball handlers. He combines skill with hard work, showing a level of intensity that is rarely matched when he is on the floor.

The fastest hands in the state. Barrett masterfully blends between being a lock down defender and a havoc causer. Contested shots against taller players with those quick hands and his massive wingspan. Or knowing when to gamble and poke out loose dribbles. If an opponent make even the smallest mistake, odds are he will pounce. One of the most versatile defenders in Oklahoma with his ability to lock down guards and even forwards. Has turned into an automatic finisher around the rim. With highlight reel dunks in transition and tough buckets in the halfcourt. One of the few true dawgs in the state.

Barrett is a pick pocket. He’s quick, with a massive wingspan and outstanding anticipation skills. He’ll rip away loose dribbles right out an opponent’s hand, or jump an inbounds pass with cat like reflexes. Still growing, he has switch-ability guarding potential at the next level when combining his natural gifts with his tenacious playing style. Rebounds at a high rate as well, to fully round out his ability to end offensive possessions.

As a freshman, Barrett saw his older brother (TO Barrett, now with Missouri) lead Edmond North to a second straight State Title. Following that season, the younger Barrett transferred to Millwood. Where as a sophomore, he was arguably their most consistent player in reaching the Class 3A State Title game. They unfortunately finished runner ups that year, but an improved Barrett was a key engine in the Falcons winning it back in March.
Barrett is one of the top defenders in the State. He has a nose for the ball, always coming up for steals. Along with rising for blocks and rebounds exceptionally well for a guard. He also improved his finishing ability as a junior. Continuing to improve his jumper is the next step for a player who has a winning mentality.

Barrett was his usual consistent grinder self, producing 13 points and 8 rebounds. He’s often the best athlete on the court, while also playing like the hungriest. 5 of his boards came on the offensive end, where he led a hungry Falcon bunch that beat up the Commandos on the glass. For the game, The Wood had 11 second chance points vs Cascia. Some would say that was the difference in the contest, and it was Barrett’s heart that played a big role in that.

Outstanding motor and desire on both ends of the court are what first jumps off the page for Barrett. He’s the rare type of player who actually plays like every play could be his last. It shows in the defense he plays, long arms deflection passes. Making highlight reel plays in the defensive backcourt, while also rebounding like a 6 foot 6 forward.
Along with the uncommon combination of athleticism and defense, he has steadily improved offensively. Made a jump as a finisher around the rim this year. While having more flashes of a scorer in a mid-range and from three. The term “dawg” is often over used on social media, Barrett is one of the true stone cold “dawgs” in Oklahoma.

Barrett’s motor is always on, and that was the case as he took it to the Sabercats on both ends of the floor. On offense he lived at the rim, and usually after scoring he would immediately turn it on defensively. There’s once or twice a game he’ll deflect or outright steal an inbounds pass. Often leading to crucial 4 point swings in the Falcons favor. His hands are quick and his anticipation skills are nearly unmatched with the steals he racks up.
Along with improved finishing at the rim thanks to his athleticism and well drilled footwork, he’s becoming a mid-range monster. Has a trusty turnaround jumper that is incredibly hard to block due to his athleticism and long arms. The junior scored a heard earned 29 points on the night. And now gets a match up with some of the best senior guards in Oklahoma. A match up the hard working, tenacious Barrett is sure to enjoy.

Game high 23 points. Attacked mismatches on the block. Finishing is night and day from last year, big improvement and growth. Unbothered by contact, acrobatic finishes thanks to hangtime and long arms. Consistent signs of full offensive growth to go along with scrapping around the bucket. Hit a tough, one legged stepback in the mid-range. Also casually buried a stepback three after pushing it off a defensive rebound. Remains one of the great defenders in the state. His reward for good work, is a new challenge in matching up with a former AAU teammate (Montonanti) tomorrow.
