2027 Rankings - Seliga's Reaction Pt. 1

On Monday, Prep Hoops Arizona released its updated class of 2027 rankings. As expected following the last summer of high school basketball for these players, there was plenty of movement.   If you haven't seen the updated list, here's a link to view those rankings. <a href="https://prephoops.com/arizona/rankings/2027-rankings/">Class of 2027 Rankings</a>   With a new list that featured plenty of deliberation from the Prep Hoops AZ team as to where we feel each player should be ranked and what we value in prospects, the list has finally dropped.   Now, over the remainder of July myself and the rest of the Prep Hoops team will be releasing content related to the rankings. Below is the first part of a series of reactions I have to the rankings we have crafted as a group.   <h2 class="wp-block-heading"> 1. The Top Prospects WILL Continue the AZ to Pro's Pipeline</h2>   After evaluating and watching prospects such as [player_tooltip player_id='1580233' first='Paul' last='Osaruyi'], [player_tooltip player_id='1546987' first='Adan' last='Diggs'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1555179' first='Darius' last='Wabbington'] for multiple years and recently [player_tooltip player_id='2140875' first='Demarcus' last='Henry'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2241513' first='Lyris' last='Robinson'], there's no doubt in my mind we have at least five future NBA players in this class. I've been on the Diggs hype train for a while now and I'm convinced at his skill and mentality translating to college and helping him develop into a pro.   In the post you have two unique bigs in Osaruyi and Wabbington who are so different. Osaruyi is an athletic beast that looks like a younger Clint Capela the way he slams the ball down and blocks shots. Meanwhile Wabbington is your more modern big that can play inside-out with a jump shot from deep and a gifted passing game and playmaking skill.   On the wing, the battle between [player_tooltip player_id='2140875' first='Demarcus' last='Henry'] who appears as the best long-term prospect in the class and [player_tooltip player_id='2241513' first='Lyris' last='Robinson'] who got the last laugh this summer and is making a case of his own looks to be spicy as the rivalry between Bella Vista and AZ Compass gets deeper.   This doesn't include wild cards such as [player_tooltip player_id='2407095' first='Zion' last='Green'] who candidly, I haven't gotten to evaluate in person YET.   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">2. The depth of wings in this class is deep. </h2>   Just like I mentioned above with the elite duo of Robinson and Henry, the wings in this class truly stand out. [player_tooltip player_id='2574810' first='Wor' last='Wor'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2975471' first='Kur' last='Lual'] turned heads all summer long as did [player_tooltip player_id='1834123' first='Mayom' last='Mayom']. But it isn't just your prep wings that have taken the state by storm. [player_tooltip player_id='1956217' first='PJ' last='Nowlin Jr'] at Canyon View broke out this offseason as did [player_tooltip player_id='2435389' first='Justin' last='Johnson'] at Millennium.   Small school longer prospects such as [player_tooltip player_id='2337138' first='Jadd' last='Agha'] at Phoenix Country Day and [player_tooltip player_id='2396185' first='Zathan' last='Ruffin'] from North Valley Christian both have skill to play at the D2 level. [player_tooltip player_id='2292816' first='Luke' last='Galvanoni'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2574815' first='Garrison' last='Bambolo'] both step into bigger roles for their respective teams this year and will have more chances to stand out.   Even a prospect such as [player_tooltip player_id='3667472' first='Kaleb' last='Scott'] at La Joya has breakout potential on the wing in this class. Overall, colleges will have plenty of options regardless of level to pull a stellar wing out of this state this cycle.   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">3. D2 colleges and other levels have plenty of prospects to recruit from</h2>   Continuing the theme mentioned above, there's more depth on the surface with this class than most people may realize. There's the potential for 25-30 D1 prospects in this class by the time the summer of 2027 rolls around. But there's possibly 30 or more D2 caliber prospects in this class, and that doesn't include the prospects that may start off at a Junior College before portaling up.   And what makes it more unique is the wild range this class has in terms of play style from prospect to prospect. There's knockdown snipers who are pure scorers such as [player_tooltip player_id='2146239' first='Carsyn' last='Dean'] and Agha as mentioned above. There's versatile players who can play multiple positions to fit team need such as Nowlin, [player_tooltip player_id='2146268' first='Brock' last='Knee'], [player_tooltip player_id='3672710' first='Terrence' last='Richardson'], and [player_tooltip player_id='2407205' first='Ja'Mir' last='Smith'].   Add in a deep guard group that includes [player_tooltip player_id='2407206' first='Cameron' last='Hurt'], [player_tooltip player_id='2332290' first='Amir' last='Kendrick'], [player_tooltip player_id='2717233' first='Travon' last='Darby'], [player_tooltip player_id='2257790' first='Nicholas' last='Topolosek'], [player_tooltip player_id='1555181' first='Adrian' last='Higuera'], [player_tooltip player_id='1873684' first='Tyson' last='Crandall'], and [player_tooltip player_id='2146269' first='Daijon' last='Grayson'], there's a player for everyone.   Overall, it doesn't matter what a school may want in a prospect or prefer from year to year, this 2027 class has a player for them regardless of if it's the University of Arizona or Arizona Christian and everyone in between
