Expert Analysis
Duvalier Johnson | Prep Hoops Scout
Johnson was a big-time performer on the weekend for UH Elite 17U Gold and looked like one of the top interior players. He’s a tweener who had some high-flying moments. They put him at the dunker spot, and he rose for big-time dunks on multiple occasions. He is a quick leaper who gets inside the paint. He sets hard screens and rolls and is always moving. Johnson had some post-ups on smaller defenders where he finished and did not shy away from contact. He also opened things up as he knocked down some left-handed pull-ups where he faced up at the mid-range and knocked them down. Johnson also stepped out and hit multiple 3-pointers and was in complete control. At our event, he was an elite scorer and game changer, and I really liked his defensive activity as well. He was one of the top players in the gym.

Justin, the top prospect I saw this weekend that is not nationally ranked, was one of my favorite players to watch all weekend. The 6’5” wing can jump out of the gym and was throwing down highlight reel dunks in each game I saw. He was very hard to stop when getting to his left hand on drives to the basket, finishing with both touch and power at times. He can also stretch the floor, being capable of knocking down a triple off the catch. Johnson is an uncommitted 2027 prospect that is oozing with potential.

An elite next level athlete with a knack for scoring. Justin is one of the best athletes I have seen. His ability to run the fast break and fill lanes is unmatched. He is a constant lob threat on the break and in the half court. He gets down hill at will with his solid handle and speed. He is a plus rebounder on both ends. Defensively he can cause disruption with his length and athleticism. He send shots away at the rim and can come from the weak side for high flying blocks. He is very versatile and can guard the one through 4.
