Forced the defense to collapse with his ability to attack the paint, using his frame and body control to finish through contact or earn trips to the free-throw line. He complemented his rim pressure by knocking down catch-and-shoot threes and making defenses pay with his mid-range pull-up when they ran him off the line. Defensively, he played with discipline, moved his feet well, and used his physicality to keep ball handlers out of rhythm while making every possession difficult.

Carter is an explosive playmaker who makes things happen on both ends of the floor with his dynamic athleticism, high motor and instinctual defensive ability. Carter’s combination of lateral speed, anticipation of passing lanes and quick break on the ball allowed him to disrupt ball handlers and make plays in passing lanes. Offensively, the Arizona-based point guard put pressure on the rim with his aggressiveness in transition.

Explosive in transition, he consistently put pressure on the rim and was tough to contain in the open floor, attacking gaps and finishing with authority. In the halfcourt, his burst and quick first step created separation off the dribble, where he showed the ability to play through contact and finish with creativity using either hand. He played with a relentless motor, applying constant pressure on the defense throughout possessions. He also connected on timely threes — including off-the-dribble looks — keeping the defense honest and opening up driving lanes.

Big-time gamer and an explosive downhill attacker who constantly puts pressure on the defense. He does a great job creating and embracing contact at the rim, and finishes through it at a high level. Dynamic off the dribble, he uses his handle and change of pace to shift defenders, creates clean separation, and gets to his spots with control — whether it’s getting downhill, pulling up in the midrange, or stepping into threes. He shoots it well off the catch and creates plenty of space with his step-back middy.

Maurice is legit as they come in the west valley. Maurice draws tons of attention from defenses and is often game planned for. He is a plus athlete who can play above the rim and and get to the bucket at will. He has a real nice midrange pull up and can hit tough shots in the faces of defenders. Maurice has really improved on his three point jumper and shot 41% from deep. He has also improved his passing and was dropping dimes all year. Maurice lead his team to a top 11 seed in the state and was honored with the 5A Northwest Valley player of the year.
