The 2027 MD/DC player rankings were updated earlier today where we welcomed 52 new names to the list of 200 prospects that received a ranking. For this article I'll break down a handful of names that made their debut on our state's site.

Green makes his move to the DMV area with a splash as he debuts at No. 1 overall. Our recent viewings of Green further cemented his top status as he brings a unique blend of size, ability and upside that tends to pay dividends in the long-term. He'll be the focal point of Mt. Zion Prep's National team playing on The Grind Session and currently holds offers from the likes of Maryland, Syracuse and Villanova among other programs.

Ross makes his debut on the MD/DC site after making the short trip up from Virginia as he transferred from Paul VI to Sidwell Friends. The combo guard is primed for a productive junior season under head coach Eric Singletary and adds a great deal of floor spacing thanks to his outside shooting prowess. Over the summer with Boo Williams, Ross showcased an uptick in confidence as a playmaker off the bounce and while on this Sidwell team he'll be utilized for his long range shooting the most, there should be more spurts of Ross' on-ball initiating that'll further boost his stock. Ross enters the rankings inside the top-25 at No. 23 overall.

Wood was a prospect who made a strong case over the summer that should set up a breakout season for him at Calvert Hall. The 6-foot-3 combo guard is a tough, rugged downhill slasher who initiates bumps on his way to the rim, but over the last six months has really shown improvement with his 1-to-2 dribble pull-up. He's no longer playing too fast for his own good. He's controlled, balanced and makes sure to get his feet set before rising up whether that be on a catch-and-shoot or off the dribble. He's an intense defender who takes pride in his individual matchup and alongside [player_tooltip player_id='2265685' first='Billy' last='Stanfield III'], is expected to shoulder the load for a team looking to shock some people in the Baltimore Catholic League.

Cowan looks to make a major impact for City as the Knights will have huge voids to fill after last year's state title team graduated the likes of Omarr Smith Jr. (New Mexico State). The 6-foot-3 forward should mesh well within the up-tempo style of play that Baltimore City Public School hands its hat on and the rate at which he rebounds makes him a much bigger presence around the rim than his listed height.

McCoy makes his debut in the rankings and for a St. Frances team this season that will need his gritty, active approach on both ends of the floor. The combo guard spent his first two years at Edmondson-Westside where that toughness was embraced as the key ingredient to their championship culture. McCoy will now look to make an impact in the Catholic League and polish aspects of his game such as pace, decision-making and his shooting. He's a quick-twitch guard who can get to the rim in a flash whenever a driving lane presents itself and if he focuses on playing to his strengths and priding himself as the dirty work guard, it'll do wonders for both the Panthers and his individual stock.
