MD Expo Team 8 Evaluations

Jordan seemed to fit seamlessly with the starting and bench unit for Team 8 during the Expo. You could see the heart and hustle he brought the to the table in each game. Jordan stayed active and never stopped moving on the floor, found himself in the right position for baskets at times. Had a few nice steals and push-ahead plays for fastbreak opportunities.     Jonathan had an elite 5on5 set of games during the showcase. Had multiple stretches where he was the best player on either side. Getting where he wanted to inside, creating looks for others with consistency, or draining the triple when given the space. Purnell showed it all in scrimmage play. His defense was up to par as well, nabbing a few steals a game from staying active in the passing lanes and locking down the ball. Had a nice floater over the defender and a big and-1 three in his last game to further solidify the type of day he had.     It was nice to see the huge jump in confidence and skill from the junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='2553565' first='Nazir' last='Anderson']. Nazir was effective all day shooting the ball from range, burying some very deep 3's by the showcase's end. He remained confident through his misses which kept him effective through each scrimmage. I liked the way Nazir showed his ability to create his own on the ball without needing to spot up beyond the arc. It's clear Nazir has been working on his game tirelessly over the year, I wouldn't rule out another jump in progression.     Brayden started to find his rhythm in a nice way later on through scrimmage play. He was comfortable creating plays for others in the early stages of the day, making drive and kick plays time and time again. Liked Brayden's sense for when the time was right to attack the defense. Had a smooth drive to the basket showing off his keen pace change and quiet quickness. Shot the ball very well from deep and created some nice looks off the dribble in the midrange. Sound performance from the young guard.     Jevon was rightfully added to our Prep Hoops Second Team for his production Sunday. He was a deadly spot-up shooter every time he stepped on the court. Jevon knocked down shot after shot with or without a contest. He was almost just as efficient off the dribble, showing his skill in taking minimal dribbles to get the shot he wanted. Was able to finish layups strong. Jevon had the rare skill of knowing exactly where to be available along the perimeter, staying ready to catch and fire at all times. Nice size and skill already as he enters his first season with Avalon.     Ellis had a nice feel to his game with the ball in his hands. Took a lot of good looks in the midrange after creating space with the handle. Made a few catch-and-shoot threes during scrimmage play as well. Ellis boasted his athleticism with some great defensive plays. Grabbed some steals and got out on the break for the finish. Topped off his performance with a pair of uber-athletic putback layups. Lot of potential from the '28 guard.     Dmytro showed a lot of potential as a consistent and efficient 3&D threat. Quick catch-and-shoot trigger that was very accurate during the day. He spotted up well along the perimeter and defended well on the other side of the ball. Had a lot of plays making a stop on the ball to halt potential transition baskets from the defense.     Cole was a dominant factor on the floor no matter who he was up against. Held down the paint and used his frame to deny shot opportunities and layups inside. Cole had a surprisingly elusive handle on the ball that allowed him to grab rebounds and take a few dribbles down the floor. After cleaning the glass on defense, Cole looked for the outlet and consistently found teammates far up the floor for layups. Willing to shoot the ball from the perimeter and made a couple throughout the day. Another prospect the impressed our team with a ton of potential as a forward.
