Expert Analysis

The future Hoosier showed progressions despite struggling overall season for a McNamara group that embarked on one of the more challenging schedules in the area. The fluid, 6-foot-3 point guard has a polished attack off the bounce in getting to spots within the mid-range and can light it up when he’s in rhythm. The improvements that he’s shown over the last year as a passer and shooter from deep off the catch will be critical in his long-term development and ability to make a splash in Bloomington as a freshman.

The Indiana signee is a versatile offensive attacker with his ability to make a standstill 3, handle in the open floor and create for others on occasion. Although he made only 34% of his 3s in the Paul VI game, he has sound touch and solid mechanics. Can rise into 3s and mid-range pull-ups. Good footwork overall. Has touch on floaters. Changes speeds and directions with the ball. Shows glimpses of feel as a playmaker. Prince finished the game with 15 points on 5-15 from the field, 7 assists and 3 steals in the contest.

16p 10a 8r 3s vs Rainier Beach
-The senior captain for McNamara continued his torrid play with a near triple-double in a narrow loss to Rainier Beach. Moody started things off by grabbing his own miss and hitting a corner shooter with a beautiful crosscourt skip pass, forced two TOs along the sideline by beating his man to the spot, pushed the pace well in transition after grabbing defensive rebounds, hit two big 3s off the bounce, and raced past his man off the cross screen at the elbow before angling sharply downhill to score the tying basket to send the game to overtime. His competitive fire and 2-way play has buoyed his team in some big national matchups in a season where key pieces have missed time with various injuries.

The Indiana pledge has quietly put together a very consistent season thus far for McNamara (MD) and particularly when Samuels is out, he shoulders the scoring role with great competency. As mentioned above with Samuels, the Mustangs have battled through a tough schedule with no shortage of nationally ranked guards and Moody has not only embraced the challenge, but thrived with great pace and balance within his attack. The biggest question with the team will be whether or not the cohesion can come together in the long-term to fuel them through conference play. Moody’s leadership has shown improvement and will need to continue to be a given if they plan on reaching their potential as a legitimate WCAC contender.

Moody showcased the well-rounded skillset that he can bring to the floor when the pace and situation fits both he and his team. Similar to his backcourt counterpart,

, Moody has the tendency to settle for contested shots that can put his team at a disadvantage with long, quick runout buckets the other way. In that same sentiment, he also is capable getting going in that sense and demoralizing his defender with an array of jumpers both off the catch and off the bounce. The Indiana pledge put together two strong performances before a rough outing to end the event in a loss to LuHi (NY). Nevertheless, thanks to the efficiency and manner in which he played the first two contests, Moody finished with averaged of 20.6 points on 46.8 percent from the field and 44.4 percent from deep.

19p 8r 1s vs Sierra Canyon
-The Indiana commit overcame a slow 1H to ratchet up the ball pressure and turn defense into offense to ignite a 17-point comeback for the Mustangs in a win over #1 Sierra Canyon. Moody marshalled the troops a bit in timeouts as Mac made some good adjustments coming out of the 3Q to cut the lead down with sharper defensive rotations as the run n jump and full court trap schemes turned their opponent over. Moody hit some big 3s on the wing in transition, closed out possessions by chipping in on the defensive glass for some big rebounds in traffic, and hit both his FTs to put the game away. Loved the leadership, intensity, and communication on the floor as the vocal leader for a talented and deep McNamara group.

-The Indiana commit has started to refine some of the point guard skills that he will need to take with him to the next level to succeed in the Big 10. Moody has the ball on a string, can create for himself without a ball screen in the halfcourt, and is a dynamic downhill driver in the halfcourt. His ability to knock down threes and facilitate the ball skipping to opposite sides consistently will be pivotal to the Mustangs’ success. Think he is being overlooked as a WCAC POY candidate right now.

-The Indiana commit has been a steadying presence for his team now that he is fully healthy. The explosive combo guard thrives in transition but can also get downhill in the halfcourt without a ball screen to wreak havoc in the paint for his team. Love that he is using his scoring gravity to create for teammates while still remaining aggressive offensively within the flow of the game.

was aggressive and productive for Bishop McNamara. Prince did a great job using his size in the paint against smaller players that were guarding him. Prince did well controlling the game and dictating the pace. Prince showed how effective he is at both guard positions, and he finished with 22 points and 5 assists against Hargrave National.
