We had over 100 prospects in the gym this past weekend to watch them compete in 3 on 3 and live 5 on 5 action in front of college coaches and scouts. It's important for us to provide a personal evaluation for each and every player that participated in our event. This article will provide evaluations for each member of Team 6. Let's dive in!

-Tsai played within himself throughout the live game play, sprinting the floor hard to the wings and corners to free up opportunities to show his shooting ability from beyond the arc. Although he showed that he can handle the rock while directing traffic for his team, one area of improvement will be to avoid dribbling to the corners or along the sideline as it can make it difficult to keep the ball away from defenses especially when they double team. Showed that he can hit perimeter shots but can also make plays for others in 3 on 3 competition.

-Serving as an effective connector in the halfcourt as a guard that snags a ton of offensive rebounds and usually knows where he is going with the next pass before he completes the read. Timed a backdoor cut from the corner perfectly for the 1-handed lay off the window just past the outstretched hands of the defense. Came up with 2 offensive rebounds in one possession to extend possessions for his teammates. Want to see him sprint back defensively to get to the middle of the paint so that he can take better angles against advancing oppositional players.

-Like the skill level that I saw from Gill in 5 on 5 play as he showed that he has some ball skills that will hopefully win him some opportunity at DeMatha. Gill had a hop step lay in transition, executed a beautiful 1-handed push pass off the bounce to a cutter for an easy 2 at the rim, and wasn't bothered by pressure both in halfcourt and transition. Want to see him put on a bit of upper body weight to bump defenders off of him and create space for both passing angles and shooting opportunities.

-Thought he showed an advanced level of feel and wasn't bothered playing alongside/against upperclassmen. Landed on two in the paint and had a beautifully-timed kickout to a teammate for the three. Johnson performed a swift face cut in the halfcourt and scored with a sweeping underhand lay off the window just past the hands of the defense to continue his hot streak in the 1st game. His best play however came on a high dribble pickup across the paint and extension lay with the left off the window through the contact for a converted AND1 bucket.

-Cowan took home second team honors in this one because of his dynamic impact at both ends of the floor as a wing that can body up with forwards but can also flash guard skills in the halfcourt. Cowan showed the athleticism right from the tip off with a great rotation to the weakside for a block in the early going. His combination of size and assertive play made him one of the better defenders in the event as he raced back several times in transition to force a miss and start a fastbreak possession for his own team. Liked his ability to finish with either hand around the basket with a series of finesse moves but he also wasted little time getting on the rim as an explosive dunker that likes to throw an emphatic flourish on transition drives with 1-handed spikes.

-Skill level continues to improve as does the conditioning level for the rising senior. Arrey looked much more comfortable handling the rock, making plays off the bounce for himself and others throughout the showcase. He uses his quickness and length to guard both up and down a position, coming up with a ton of deflections and loose balls throughout 3 on 3 and 5 on 5 play. Saw some encouraging signs of improvement on the jumper as well, as Arrey hit two 3s in the first game alone due to better lift on his jumper.

-Thought that Graham played his role and really competed in this one as an unselfish wing that set screens well, fought hard to carve out space around the basket, and sprinted the floor. He's got decent positional size, a good frame, and is pretty strong for his size. Want to see him sprint back defensively as soon as the other team grabs a defensive rebound so that he can be the first one back and can either block shots himself or direct traffic amongst his teammates.

-Good balance and consistent follow-through on the jumper, shot prep allows him to get into his jumper quickly off the dribble or off of movement

-Bates played really well throughout the camp to receive third team honors as the head of the snake for his team as an explosive PG. Bates showed his leaping ability early in game 1 when he blocked 3 shots--two of them on bigs-- off vert to protect the rim for his team. Bates executed several coast to coast drives with finishes at the rim, turned steals into 2 points at the other end, and delivered passes on-time and on-target with either hand throughout the runs. Think he is one of the quickest and most explosive players in DC public school basketball, should turn some heads this season at a HS that is typically known for its academics.

-Thought that this prospect did a great job of not dominating the ball in the halfcourt while finding opportunities to push the pace in transition. He had the ball on a string and protected the rock while running the offense to limit his turnovers and give his team opportunities to score. Scored on a high-dribble pickup over the help defender before splitting the two opponents to lay it up at the rim. Best play came after he blocked a big on-ball and raced it the other way, hit his opponent with an in n out cross to get a step on his defender before delivering a beautiful shovel pass to a teammate. Want to see him drive to space more often especially in transition to keep the break moving and allow a teammate to attack at the other end while having a numbers advantage.
