What 2029 Wings Emerged at Freshman Showcase?

Here we examine some of the wings that put their name on our radar at the Prep Hoops Freshman Showcase!    Marabella presents a ton of upside as a 6'4” small forward that could grow into a face up post. He has good size, athleticism, and I love how he can create his shot both on drives and in the mid-range. Lot of upside here.     Bell is a 6'1” shooting guard that has solid size and strength early in the process. He caught our attention because of his burst with the ball in his hands and ability to hit a three ball on occasion. Also got to the line at a super high rate with his quick drives then getting fouled. Shake off the bounce and burst to the rim. Good athlete that also got after it defensively.     Gruber is a 6'1” scoring guard that is crafty around the hoop finishing with nifty moves in traffic. Majority of his points were off the bounce and did connect on a 15 foot pull up.     This 6'3” small forward from Naperville North has some projection where he should continue to grow and could be a four man. Stretches the floor with his shooting draining an array of threes in the game we saw along with showing feel for scoring in the paint.     The only 8th grader at the event Rydberg is someone we had heard good things about and the 6'3” wing showcases quality size and strength at a young age. Can also really shoot it as he poured them in from mid-range and three.     Walson created some buzz on our group chat among scouts with his play at the event. Like the size at 6'3” with a ton of projection to continue to grow. Broad shoulders and a nice frame. He was effective in transition as a finisher. Crisp ball handler that also flashed with his shot making from three and had quickness on the offensive glass for second chance points.     Glaybo is a 6'3” small forward that did his damage in the paint. Rim runs, pick/roll conversions, straight line takes through defenders, and dished it in the lane for buckets to his teammates.     The Indiana product is a 6'1” strong framed wing that is a high level finisher. He got to the rim with consistency throughout the game we saw for acrobatic finishes and maneuvering his body for scores. Pushed coast to coast as he was best in the open floor. Also had a couple nice dimes off his defense in transition.     Like the projectability here in the 6'1” guard from Oswego East. Good length and room to continue to grow. Slick slasher that can get to the rim.     This Niles Notre Dame 6'4” forward really caught our attention at the camp. He has good size and a strong frame. Creative wing ball handler that finishes well with either hand at the cup. Won on crafty moves for euro steps and up and under moves. Killer crossover. Runs the floor well and hit a short baseline jumper. Also impacted defensively blocking a couple shots.     Kurek is a 6'0” guard with good length and projectability to continue to grow. Like what he brought as a shooter hitting threes off the catch and getting on the baseline for 15 footers.     Bohlen is one to watch as a 6'0” two guard that can fill it up with his shooting. Banged in threes off the catch and pulling up with a clean stroke. In and out dribbles creating space to get his shot off from mid-range.     This 6'2” shooting guard has good size and length. Crafty baseline takes and flashed defensively at times. What he is best at is letting it fly from beyond the arc nailing several threes.     We came away very impressed with McDermott at the Showcase. This 6'2” shooting guard from St. Ignatius is a wing that has size and should continue to get taller. His creative handles were so much fun to watch. One time it was so good he dropped a defender to the ground. Shake off the bounce getting to the rim and showed overall quickness with ball in his hands. Scoop shots and the ability to convert with either hand at the cup. Had a nice mid-range shot, flair as a passer, and a couple steals as well. Iggy has a good one!
