Saw Gruber play for the first time during our Fall showcase and he lit it up from beyond the arc that weekend. Played a lot of minutes and provided value for the Strom as a true freshman this past season. Continued to showcase his shooting skills on Tuesday night during league play. Tallied him for a handful of 3’s in an efficient manner. Precision off of catch and shoot action was pure. Liked the way he attacked downhill off outlets to put defense on heels for pitch aheads and break point opportunities. Will go into jab steps or pump fakes to get defender to give space then make a smart read. Has a competitive motor on both sides while playing with a joy for the game.

Gruber is a 6’1” scoring guard that is crafty around the hoop finishing with nifty moves in traffic.  Majority of his points were off the bounce and did connect on a 15 foot pull up.

Strong body control off the dribble, using spins and footwork to create space while mixing in runners around the lane. Handled the ball with a low, controlled dribble and attacked downhill coming off screens. Defensively, was active in rotations and provided reliable help-side support.

Started the day lights out and put on an absolute shooting clinic. Buttery smooth from 3 ball land and comes with driving ability as well. Hit the first 4 he took and then proceeded to knock down a couple more all in rhythm within the first 10 minutes of the day. Played hard nosed defensively on the ball and away from the action. Got his hands on it for a couple take-a-ways which converted to positive offense. Scored inside multiple times utilizing a pump fake and again off a steal. Competes with solid poise and confidence.
