Tuesday Sectional Semis Notebook

Sectional play kicked off on Tuesday with the first set of sectional semis at most sites.  Check out some of the big games and performances here in Tuesday Sectional Semi Notebook!   4A   Quincy topped Alton in the first game of the Collinsville Sectional 56-33.  The Blue Devils look like a state title contender.  [player_tooltip player_id='1545125' first='Dominique' last='Clay'] dropped 15 points while Santa Clara commit [player_tooltip player_id='1385298' first='Bradley' last='Longcor'] had 12 and Drury bound [player_tooltip player_id='1385308' first='Keshaun' last='Thomas'] went for 11.  Alton's top scorer was their star junior top 10 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='2376270' first='Semaj' last='Stampley'] who had 13 points.   Kenwood had an epic comeback win being down 13 heading into the fourth against Simeon.  Their star [player_tooltip player_id='2125612' first='Devin' last='Cleveland'] wouldn't let them go down on his 16th birthday as Cleveland made key plays one after another including sick left handed euro steps leading to an OT win 58-56.  Cleveland led the way with 18 points.  Senior stars [player_tooltip player_id='1385290' first='Amari' last='Edwards'] (14 points) and [player_tooltip player_id='2321397' first='TJ' last='Seals'] (13 points and 10 boards) were huge as always with Seals getting a tip in at the buzzer to send it to OT.  [player_tooltip player_id='1552394' first='Andre' last='Tyler'] was special for Simeon in the loss as he made some spectacular plays finishing with 22 points.  [player_tooltip player_id='1439013' first='Julien' last='Doyle'] capped his strong season with 12 for the [program_tooltip program_id='2076046' first='Wolverines' last=''].   Downers Grove North upsets Bolingbrook 29-26.  They kept it at the low scoring pace they wanted and take out a team many thought could cut down the nets. Jack Richtman led DGN with 12 points.   Homewood Flossmoor moves on with a 41-36 victory over Bloom in a battle of south suburbs powers.  The defending champs got 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals from standout unsigned senior [player_tooltip player_id='2044507' first='Brent' last='Taylor'].  Wofford commit [player_tooltip player_id='1774274' first='Jayden' last='Tyler'] went for 10.   Fremd won an interesting game with Hersey 53-44.  Their junior combo forward [player_tooltip player_id='2323270' first='Jordan' last='Williams'] continues to produce as he went for 18 while senior sharp shooter [player_tooltip player_id='1545144' first='Samuel' last='Hirsch'] dropped 13 points.  Hersey was led by 14 points from [player_tooltip player_id='2416503' first='Charlie' last='Pomis'].   Glenbard West continues to roll in this tournament cruising over Glenbard East 64-47.  [player_tooltip player_id='1552408' first='TJ' last='Williams'] had a monster night as the senior wing went for a career high 32 points.  [player_tooltip player_id='2389800' first='Logan' last='Glover'] chipped in 13 in the victorious effort.  Sam Walton and [player_tooltip player_id='2415521' first='Danny' last='Snyder'] both had 13 points for Glenbard East.   Warren is starting to look like the team that almost made it to state a year ago.  Senior wing [player_tooltip player_id='2291830' first='Javerion' last='Banks'] led the way with 16 points in their 61-49 victory against Dekalb.  Super sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='2323571' first='Jaxson' last='Davis'] had 13.  Marquise Bolden and [player_tooltip player_id='2326964' first='Jackson' last='Kees'] had 15 and 13 points respectively for Dekalb. Brother Rice gets a win over Hillcrest in their sectional semi 65-58.  [player_tooltip player_id='1545120' first='Marcos' last='Gonzales'] continues to amaze as a senior went for 22 points in the victory while his right hand man [player_tooltip player_id='2538898' first='Jack' last='Weigus'] had 19 points.   Chatham Glenwood needed overtime, but it outscored Champaign Central 12-0 in the extra session to win 57-45.   St. Laurence got the win 67-51 over Hyde Park to advance to the sectional final.  The balanced scoring continues with [player_tooltip player_id='1766462' first='Zerrick' last='Johnson'] (17 points), [player_tooltip player_id='1766461' first='EJ' last='Mosley'] (16 points), and [player_tooltip player_id='2323617' first='Markese' last='Peoples'] (12 points) all in double figures.  [player_tooltip player_id='2724415' first='CJ' last='Thomas'] led the way for Hyde Park with 12 points.   Triad moves on to the next round with a victory against Mt. Vernon 43-27.  Oklahoma State baseball commit [player_tooltip player_id='1766468' first='Drew' last='Winslow'] continues to produce as he had 14 points.   Crystal Lake South looks impressive against Sycamore 66-37.  [player_tooltip player_id='2750020' first='Carson' last='Trivellini'] has 21 points while Nick Stowasser goes for 10.  Star senior floor general AJ Demirov had 7 points and 12 assists.  Carter York led Sycamore with 10 points.   Metamora closed regulation with a 12-0 run to save their season sending their game against Kankakee to OT. They got up big in the extra session and held on to win 65-63. South Dakota commit [player_tooltip player_id='1576619' first='Jonah' last='Funk'] had 22 points while lead guard Ashton Grieves finished with 19. Their superstar Bradley commit [player_tooltip player_id='1545146' first='Matthew' last='Zobrist'] went for 14. [player_tooltip player_id='1874852' first='Myair' last='Thompson'] had 16 points for Kankakee while top 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='2105360' first='Lincoln' last='Williams'] finished his junior season with 13.   2A   Breese Central took out the defending 2A champs with a 41-30 victory against Benton.  [player_tooltip player_id='1618009' first='Kaden' last='Rakers'] led the way with 17 points.  Their interior presence Griffen Becker had 9 points and 9 rebounds.  Bryce Weiter came up huge with 10 points and 5 rebounds.  Colorado State commit [player_tooltip player_id='1545126' first='Docker' last='Tedeschi'] had 19 for Benton.   In a battle of 2A powers from Chicago it was Christ the King who won in blowout fashion 64-38 against Crane.  They got 18 points from [player_tooltip player_id='2105266' first='Darien' last='Green'] in the victory.  [player_tooltip player_id='2823516' first='Mike' last='Thomas'] had 12.   Leo won over North Lawndale 68-57 in the Julian Sectional.  [player_tooltip player_id='2323606' first='Asa' last='Harris'] was the star for Leo with 23 points.  Our Steve Parham will have a full recap of this game.   Rock Falls wins 42-40 on a game winner by Ryken Howard.  Howard along with Kuitim Heald each had 14 points.   Bishop McNamara won on Tuesday against Joliet Catholic 79-67.  [player_tooltip player_id='2411845' first='Karter' last='Krutsinger'] goes off for 25 points while underrated recruit [player_tooltip player_id='1598786' first='Willie' last='Felton'] notched 18.  [player_tooltip player_id='2425590' first='Trey' last='Provost'] had 12 as well.  [player_tooltip player_id='2400463' first='Jayden' last='Armstrong'] paced JCA with 20 in the loss.   Peoria Manual is having no problems in the 2A field after their strong regular season schedule.  Bradley commit [player_tooltip player_id='1576114' first='Dietrich' last='Richardson'] had 26 points in their victory over Macomb 65-46.  Braiden Holthaus led Macomb with 18.   Teutopolis gets it done against Monticello in OT 53-46.  They got 10 points each from Mick Niebrugge and Gavin Addis.   1A   Tuscola just wins games!  They did it against Dietrich 74-65.  Sawyer Woodard had 24 points, Kam Sweetnam dropped 21, and Logan Kurtz had 14.   Goreville moves past Okawville 55-41.  Nick King was their top scorer with 14 points.   Leroy gets the 66-38 victory against Argenta Oreana.  Sam Edmundson scored 24 points while Brycen Umstattd had 15.   Greenfeld topped Winchester 42-40.  Talon Albretcht had 17 in the winning effort.  Winchester was led by Carson Brown with 14.
