One. Davis is a nationally ranked point guard that just visited Ohio State and Creighton, and is also looking at Michigan State and Iowa (visits upcoming). Had a final six that included Minnesota and Marquette but it looks like Davis is down to four schools. Davis has moved from Illinois high school basketball to Monarch Academy prep. He is a top 30-40 four recruit in the nation.

The newest member — and perhaps the face of the state of Kansas moving forward — Jaxson Davis has made it official. He will now call Kansas City, Kansas home and suit up for the upstart Monarch Academy. Davis is well known and highly publicized for good reason. He’s a true lead guard who can do almost anything on the floor.

The summer provided plenty of flashes of just how good he is and how well-rounded his game has become. He’s a tough cover because of how unpredictable he is with his left hand and the way he changes pace. Davis showed deep range throughout the summer and the ability to stretch the floor, whether operating out of ball screens or creating for others as a facilitator. He also has an abruptness to his game, whether it’s pulling up quickly or creating separation in a flash to draw extra defenders and find scoring opportunities. Competing against some of the country’s best on the EYBL stage, Davis continued to shine and dominate at times, showcasing impressive two-way toughness and competitiveness.

While his options at the next level continue to grow, Creighton, Michigan State, and Kentucky are among the recent high-major programs to get involved in his recruitment.

Davis is a high level passer with pinpoint accuracy on his dimes.  Was at his best in the drive and kick game setting up his teammates for open looks kicking along with finding guys on the move.  Did not shoot it well from three in this game (2-13 FG), but did manage to get to the line like Thompson and Kitt at a high rate where he went 10-11.  Finished with 14 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists.

Davis, one of Illinois’ top overall prospects, has shown an offensive scoring package this spring that you could stack up against just about any guard nationally. Playing for Meanstreets and running the show, his ability to stay in control with the ball and change pace makes him extremely difficult for defenders to consistently keep in front of. He’s crafty with the dribble and does a good job of creating contact to get to his spots on the floor. While he can score from almost anywhere on the court, it’s been his playmaking this spring that has elevated his game above many of his peers and further reinforced how quickly his skill set should translate at the next level. I expect another impressive weekend from Davis at the NBPA Top 100 Camp.

One of the most productive high school guards in the country, Davis already eclipsed the 2,000 career points mark playing against the top competition in Chicago. Davis won Mr Basketball and Gatorade POY in Illinois as a sophomore, a remarkable achievement when you consider the depth of talent in that state.
