We at Prep Hoops Indiana have always hammered home that [player_tooltip player_id='1297123' first='Jay' last='Summitt'] is one of the more underrated players in the entire state and that certainly holds true today. Like expected, the senior wing that has had a really strong season for Evansville Harrison with his 15.2 points 7.2 rebound per game. Summitt is a high-end athletic wing that plays with a fantastic motor and has shown constant improvement in his jumper as the years have went on. Small schools would be happy to have him on their squad. Watch him and the Warriors this week vs Evansville Reitz on Friday and then travel to Owensboro (Ky.) on Saturday.

We spoke last week in this series about how Brownstown Central has not taken a step back this season and a big part of that is due to 6'6 senior power forward [player_tooltip player_id='1297005' first='Colby' last='Hall']. The versatile forward has stepped up into an even more important role for the Braves this season. A big that can score in the paint, stretch the floor, rebound, and pass.....there is not a whole lot to not like about Hall's production on the floor. The Braves will look to remain undefeated when they host Jennings County on 2/11 and travel to Bedford on 2/14.

We have highlighted a few underrated players in this week's 3 For 3 so it is only fitting that we add 6'6 wing [player_tooltip player_id='1297012' first='Danny' last='Kelly'] to that list. For Bishop Luers, the spotlight always goes to the Treusdale Twins but [player_tooltip player_id='1297012' first='Danny' last='Kelly'] also plays a big part in the Knights' success. Kelly is averaging 8.5 points and 5.4 rebound per game during his senior season thus far. He can stretch the floor as a pick-and-pop threat, handle it well enough to attack closeouts, and play above the rim. Bishop Luers has Fort Wayne South on Tuesday and travel to Fort Wayne Snider on Friday.

3 Teams

NorthWood (3A) – Another season, another consistent impressive year for the NorthWood Panthers. Through 12 weeks, the Panthers sit at 15-3 and once again look like a team that can make a run at another state appearance in come March. As it has been for the past few years, it all starts in the middle for NorthWood with Grace signee [player_tooltip player_id='1297122' first='Tyler' last='Raasch'] who once again has looked like one of the best bigs in the whole state. [player_tooltip player_id='2391220' first='Maddux' last='Everingham'], [player_tooltip player_id='2272823' first='Mason' last='Pearson'], and many others have also had strong seasons for the Panthers as well. This week, NorthWood travels to both West Noble (2/11) and Mishawaka (2/14).

Forest Park (2A) – Class 2A looks pretty open this year and a team that you need to watch for come tournament time is the Forest Park Rangers. The Rangers are right now 13-4 on the year with really good wins over Loogootee, Winchester, Paoli, and many others. One of the more interesting players on this team is sophomore wing [player_tooltip player_id='2140403' first='Kamdon' last='Partenheimer'] who has sort of broken out a bit this season. Expect them to make a deep run come March. This week, they travel to Perry Central on Tuesday and host Heritage Hills on Friday.

Kouts (1A) – Class 1A is another wide open class of basketball but there is certainly a few contenders, the Kouts Mustangs being one of them. They are one of the few teams across the entire state that has at least 16 wins and only 2 losses on the year, that includes 8 straight wins as well. They are a very experienced group of players with guys like [player_tooltip player_id='1559321' first='Lucas' last='Kleckner'] having good seasons for them. This week, they host a struggling Morgan Township team on Friday.

3 Matchups

Pike (4A) at Mount Vernon-Fortville (4A), February 11th, 7:30 pm

Class 4A basketball has got a ton of fun games on tap this week and that includes a matchup of Pike traveling to Mount Vernon-Fortville on Tuesday night. At 10-7, the Pike Red Devils have started to put some good wins together including winning their last 4 of 5 with Mount Vernon-Fortville (12-4) doing the exact things. When it comes to the top underclassman in the state, there are few greats here with all eyes likely being on Purdue signee and junior guard MVF [player_tooltip player_id='1728587' first='Luke' last='Ertel'] and Pike star sophomores [player_tooltip player_id='2194328' first='Jahari' last='Miller'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2266896' first='Isaiah' last='Hill']. I could see this one being a high scorning game but as far a winner, I think Pike could get the big road win here.

Westfield (4A) at West Lafayette Harrison (4A), February 11th, 7:30 pm

From what we saw out of the Westfield Shamrocks vs No. 1 Fishers last Friday, I am ready to say they are a contender to not only come out of Sectional 8, but make it to state as well. This week, they have another challenge on their hands when they travel to West Lafayette to face a very good Harrison team. Both teams have had very impressive season with a combined record of 27-7. The top guys to watch here are Westfield [player_tooltip player_id='1988138' first='Drew' last='Haffner'] and Harrison's [player_tooltip player_id='2053659' first='Malachi' last='King'], both players that have had phenomenal seasons individually. This game comes down to which supporting cast will step up and provide the edge. For me, I like Westfield just a little more in this one so I am going with the Shamrocks.

New Albany (4A) at Jeffersonville (4A), February11th , 7:30 pm

Everyone loves a good rivalry matchup in the state of Indiana and there is no better one this week than when New Albany travels to Jeffersonville on Tuesday night. There is not question that along with Seymour, these two teams are the favorites to win Sectional 15 next month. The star power in this one is just insane with [player_tooltip player_id='1388408' first='Tre' last='Singleton'], [player_tooltip player_id='1297093' first='Michael' last='Cooper'], [player_tooltip player_id='1373104' first='P.J.' last='Douglas'], [player_tooltip player_id='2382148' first='Noah' last='Washington'], and [player_tooltip player_id='2276379' first='Chris' last='Lampkins']. These two teams always bring it in this type of game and each of them are going to do what it takes to come out with a win. Give me Jeffersonville this round.
