There are likely top kids out there who haven’t been discovered yet or will have growth spurts, etc. over the next few years. For now, here are the top 10 players in the Sophomore class.
The toughest decision in the entire list was which player to put number one between Logsdon and Montez Gay Montez Gay 6’5″ | SF George Rogers Clark | 2027 State KY . Essentially 1 and 1A for now, Jack gets the nod thanks to his impressive high school season. Already scoring over 1,000 points in his career, Jack has a lot of potential as a big wing at the next level.
Highlights
Right on Jack’s heels for the top spot, Gay is a long and athletic wing who continues to improve. He needs to tweak his shooting mechanics as his jumper tends to come off flat. Montez has all the physical tools to be a potential top 100 in America type of player.
Another young man whose potential is way, way up there. Wright is a versatile scorer and high level rebounder. He has benefited from being at DuBois and being able to play through mistakes against the best and brightest in Louisville for the last couple of seasons. If you’re looking for a kid who can challenge for best long term prospect in the class, look no further.
Highlights
Sticking with the high upside theme, Langhi got Marshall County to Rupp Arena in March and has a lot of long term potential. His dad played in the NBA after being SEC Player of the Year so Matthew has some big shoes to fill but he appears capable. I’d like to see Langhi guard a kid like Montez Gay Montez Gay 6’5″ | SF George Rogers Clark | 2027 State KY to see if he’s up to the task.

Yet another player who could be the best player in the class, long term. Brown is a bucket getter who can score all over the floor. I’d like to see him facilitate a little more. Not saying he can’t do it. Just that he hasn’t in the couple of times I’ve seen him play. Ja’Rye and Ferlandas could have DuBois pushing for a trip to Rupp Arena in a year or two.
Tyce has all the tools to be a top 100 player nationally but his production has to catch up to his potential in the near future. He only averaged 11 points for a bad Montgomery team this past season and is putting up modest numbers on EYBL right now. I am holding on to my Tyce stock but hopefully he can get back to being the player who got 3 D1 offers before he even enrolled in high school.
Omari is a talented downhill driver who is also capable of locking down opposing guards on the defensive end. In about any other class, we’d be talking about Jointer as potentially a top 3 or better player but this 27 class is super talented and they haven’t started to sort themselves out just yet. I’ll say this for Omari, he may be the most competitive kid in the top ten. He does all you want a guard to do.
White arrived at Evangel after previously playing at Moore as an 8th grader and made an immediate impact and helped get Evangel to Rupp. White is a big guard whose best basketball is still ahead of him. If he can transition to more of a true point guard, he’ll be a top priority for schools as a big lead guard. If he can improve his overall shooting, he will be one of the hardest kids to guard in Louisville (assuming he stays there).
Starks reminds me so much of Ayden Evans Ayden Evans 6’9″ | C Elizabethtown | 2024 State KY . Long and athletic post who excels at finishing and protecting the rim, Starks needs to continue increasing his overall skill level. Griffin checks every box a coach could want as far as physical attributes and will only get better as he adds bulk to his wiry frame.

Holman is patiently waiting for his turn at Great Crossing. In the mean time, he’s having a good AAU season for Indiana Elite on the 3SSB circuit. A lefty who excels at getting paint touches, don’t be surprised if LJ eventually becomes a full time point guard.
