Ferlandes, a Louisville-native and a University of Louisville commit, achieved the most prestigious honor of travel basketball last year after helping Indy Heat EYBL to a U16 Peach Jam title. He followed the championship up with a transfer announcement from Fairdale to La Lumiere School, a Nike EYBL Scholastic League member. After a successful year of leading the Lakers in rebounds and blocks, recent news indicates that he’ll be back with Fairdale this summer to compete in summer league activities. At the center of the transfer excitement sits the #79 prospect in the nation’s 2027 class per ESPN and a high major addition to KY basketball if he decides to stay past June.

An early commit to the University of Louisville, Wright just announced his intention to play with Fairdale High School this summer after spending his junior season at La Lumiere. The athletic, physical, 6’8″ forward is a beast around the basket. Wright averaged 8.8 points and 5.3 rebounds per game with Indy Heat 17u at Nike EYBL Session III in Kansas City. His ability to go get rebounds out of his area is one of his best attributes. He was excellent during the live period down in Memphis putting up 14.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.

The University of Louisville Commit was extremely active and showed off his versatility in Indy Heat ‘s Saturday morning loss to Gateway. The 6’8” bruising power forward showed off his insane motor along with his inside-out game. Knocked down a couple catch and shoot 3’s in rhythm while also getting going to the basket and finishing at the rim. He’s an excellent rebounder on both ends. Reads the ball off the rim well and has good hands so nice he’s got it, it’s his. A good, not great athlete that plays hard and makes plays because of his effort.

A player who became a dominant force on the interior for La Lumiere this season, Wright was dominant as a rebounder, shot blocker and floor spacer for the Lakers. An early commit to Louisville, Wright will be staying home for college and looks like a great fit under Head Coach Pat Kelsey. Love the toughness I’ve seen from Wright this season and his winning intangibles from taking home a 16 U Peach Jam title with Indy Heat have translated well to the Nike Scholastic League. Impressive upward trajectory for a prospect who only had one high major offer at the time of his commitment, give credit to Louisville for being early to the party with Wright.

I tried not to double up on any La Lumiere players after spotlighting three on Saturday, but those three ended up being the key reasons why they won again on Sunday. I went with Wright as a prospect who continues to produce against taller and older players on opposing frontcourts. With one of his future college assistant coaches on the baseline for this game, Wright has seen a lot of love from his hometown program since committing to the Cardinals. Rising quickly in the national rankings, Wright is due for a bump when we update our national 2027 rankings.

One of my favorite prospects in the 2027 class nationally, Wright was first nationally ranked by Prep Hoops following the Indy Heat 16 U championship run. Wright is one of the top rebounders and shot blockers in the Nike Scholastic league, playing so tough in the paint despite standing at just 6’7. Wright also hit a pair of 3-pointers, including one just before the third quarter buzzer. Checking so many boxes to help you win, Louisville prioritized the local prospect and secured a commitment before any other high major programs offered Wright.

The Louisville commit was looking confident on both ends of the court in his hometown as he had to battle in the paint against the number one center in the country. Wright showed toughness and forced them to shoot over him and kept him off the glass. Wright also knocked down a nasty top of key 3-pointer off the dribble and hit another one off the catch later in the game. La Lumiere was pulling away from Iowa United and a Wright alley-oop slam dunk to cap off the win.

Indy Heat won the 16 U Peach Jam championship and the addition of Wright helped add to their depth in the frontcourt at both ends of the court. A physical presence in the paint, Wright plays with a high motor, rebounds the ball, isn’t afraid of contact and can knock down an open jumper if you leave him alone. After a strong season at Louisville Fairdale, Wright has made the move to La Lumiere where he’ll add to their depth in the frontcourt. Ohio, Morehead State, SEMO and Jacksonville have all already offered Wright but it won’t be long till he adds to that list.

One of the more physically dominant players from Kentucky, Wright is leaving Fairdale to play at La Lumiere in the Nike Scholastic League. Wright had a tremendous summer for Indy Heat’s 16 U group that won the Peach Jam championship. Wright holds four Division I offers but I expect that number to grow when more schools start to really prioritize the 2027 class.

Joining an already loaded Indy Heat 16 U group, Wright provides another physical big who can rebound, stretch the floor and protect the rim without fouling. Wright made an impact in the paint at both ends of the court with 7 rebounds and 3 blocks on Tuesday. Despite not connecting from long range on Tuesday, Wright still finished with 9 points thanks to his activity without the ball by cutting and running the floor. Hopefully Wright can make this his permanent grassroots home as his upside is tremendous and it is only a matter of time before his recruitment takes a major spike.
