Summer Superlatives: 2027 Class

With the official start of practice only 2 months away, let's take some time and look at which rising Seniors impressed this summer.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline">Most Likely to Succeed: </span></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1751496' first='Ferlandes' last='Wright'], Fairdale - Wright took a one year detour to La Lumiere but is back in Louisville for his Senior season. Ferlandes spent all summer putting up monster numbers with Fairdale as well as on the EYBL with Indy Heat. Over the past 2 years, Ferlandes has gotten a lot tougher. He always had a great skill set but he always left me wanting more. He's definitely come a long way and really developed.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline">Biggest AAU Stock Booster:</span></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2876729' first='Pablo' last='Molima'], Evangel Christian - To go from no offers to a D1 commit over the course of an AAU season is quite impressive. Pablo has a big time motor and he just keeps getting better. After spending the AAU season with [program_tooltip program_id='2229551' first='Moss' last='Elite'], his college stock took off and Molima is now committed to Kent State. Quite an impressive stock boost over April through July.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline">Most Impactful Transfer:</span></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2091803' first='LJ' last='Holman'], Great Crossing - Adding a big time scorer to a reigning regional championship team that lacked for scoring at times, LJ could put Great Crossing in the mix to win their second title in three years. With a lot of tools at his disposal, Coach Page has all the ingredients to win the 11th region for a fourth straight year and Holman could be the best player in the region this season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline">Best Shooter:</span></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1745595' first='Michael' last='Ray Stinnett'], Fairdale - Stinnett is an elite catch and shoot player who is in range when he parks his car outside the gym. It's common to see Michael Ray go 4-8 or better from three in a game and he's hit 7 or more threes in a game frequently. If Stinnett gets a clean look from three, the ball is going in about half the time.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline">Best Two Sport Athlete:</span></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Dre'Mail Carothers, Owensboro Catholic - Carothers had a big AAU season and played well in the KABC live event in June. In between basketball games, Dre' was earning Power 4 offers as a quarterback. He ultimately committed to Louisville and just had over 500 yards and 5 TDs in his first football scrimmage of the year. He's likely to lead Catholic in scoring and rebounding this winter, too.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline">Most Long Term Potential:</span></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2272617' first='Griffin' last='Starks'], Newport - When Griffin was a Freshman, he was getting high major D1 offers and invited to tryout for Team USA. Before last season, Starks transferred to a prep school but had minimal opportunities and is now back at Newport for his last ride. I think Starks has all the tools he had before and has likely matured and is ready to make a big impact for Newport before landing at the college level.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline">Blue Collar Award:</span></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2122607' first='Nolan' last='Coffman'], Lyon County - I have always had a soft spot for Coffman over the years. He's a player who does a little bit of everything for his team and every teammate seems to love playing with. Nolan plays super hard and if you want to be able to get a rebound or loose ball from him, you better be ready to fight for it. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline">Deepest Sleeper Award:</span></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2125726' first='Tyler' last='Bartley'], Thomas Nelson - Bartley has been scoring a lot of points for Thomas Nelson for a couple of years now. Because Thomas Nelson hasn't had a ton of success, Tyler has been overlooked a decent amount. Now a Senior, there's a chance that he will be one of the best Seniors in the region this year. Look for Thomas Nelson to rely on Bartley to do a lot for them to be a factor in the region title race.
