Here’s a look at the top shooters in Oklahoma’s junior class aka the players who have the potential to make three straight from deep and make the old school NBA Jam announcer scream “HE’S ON FIRE!”. Yes, the announcer from the original video game who recorded the lines a decade or more before these prospects were even born.
The current poster child for flames shooting out of his finger tips after the first three goes in, Davon Scott Davon Scott 6’2″ | CG Douglass | 2025 State OK is a true game changing weapon from beyond the arc. Once one three goes in, there’s good odds that no matter what the defense does a flurry of threes are likely to follow. This trait is not just because of a pure shooting stroke, it’s because of the hunger and awareness of his movements off the ball. He of course thrives running to spots in transition, catching backpedaling defenders off guard and he’s also a smart mover and shot hunter in the halfcourt as well.
The Shooting and energy Scott plays with will get the Douglass Trojan’s foot in the door at the next level. Long term it will be interesting to see how his body develops. Because he is becoming a good athlete, with a little more burst off the bounce and some pop at the rim. But he currently has a thin frame and he will need to add strength to be better prepared to compete at the college level.
Driver has range from deep that needs to be respected but this spring and summer he showed there’s more to his explosive scoring game. When opponents ran him off the line, he has improving burst to get downhill, where he understands angles to get his shot off and other ways to survive amongst the trees. He thrived in the up tempo setting of AAU basketball, consistently producing 30+ point games each month, often paired by making it rain from beyond the arc. Once one deep three was hit, the rim must’ve looked twice as big for the Spartan. Bixby is expected to remain an up tempo squad that emphasizes three point shooting, which means the success that Driver had these last six months should continue as he lights up gyms this winter.

Thompson is the current poster child for “3 and D” in Oklahoma’s 2025 class. His plus wingspan allows him to play bigger than his height on the defensive end, especially paired with the locked in defensive mentality he exhibits. On the offensive end, he’s best as a catch and shoot option with a smooth shooting stroke but has signs of expanding his overall package as he steps into a bigger role at his new program. Thompson pairs good traits with his shooting ability to be an appealing prospect who has a variety of paths to a successful college career.
Of the shooters on the list, Kim earns his recognition as much for his work in the mid-range as he does for bombing from beyond the arc. The skill work the 918 standout puts in is evident in how he plays. As while he’s comfortable as a floor spacer he often looks his best getting to his spots in the mid-range where the same smooth stroke produces a similar effect. He’s often unbothered by defender’s hands in his face. After a busy and productive spring and summer, the Cascia Hall Commando looks set to take his shooting and overall scoring package to another level.

Loper was often nails in high leverage situations for the Jaguars last winter. He’s a pure shooter, that is dangerous once his feet get set. In spring and summer viewings, he’s working on expanding his game with a little more juice on drives. While also showing signs that he could be a high level passer, as the great touch he has on shooting also translates to passing. Still, his calling card is that of a long range specialist, and the lefty’s quick release from beyond the arc is sure to change games this winter.

Among current high school basketball players in Oklahoma, no player has a more iconic moment than the Millwood junior. In the closing moments of the 2022 Class 3A title game then freshman Chance “Bubba” Davis calmly drained a go ahead corner three to win the State Title for his Falcons. For two straight years he’s been a contributor of back to back Class 3A State Title teams, now as a junior he’ll have a chance to create more iconic moments as an upperclassman for the Falcons as they strive for a three-pete.
Woods mixes his strong off the dribble shooting ability with sneaky playmaking. He plays at his own pace thanks to a stronger frame and good feel for the game. While he can make some good passing reads, he’s at his best when finding ways to get separation (often through stepbacks) for his own shot. Woods when paired with senior teammate Miller should create one of the better two-man games in Class 4A this year, as the Indians look to run and gun their way to a State Tournament appearance.

A long range bomber, Hislop is making the transition from homeschool ball to becoming a key piece of Class 3A contender Victory Christian. He’s another shooter on this list who appears to be a natural when shooting off the dribble. Hislop is comfortable pulling a few steps beyond the article, which is a vital trait for smaller guards. Moving to Victory, should also benefit Hislop as he could thrive off the gravity his talented teammates create, and improves as a knock down catch and shoot specialist.
Kelly is a great example of knowing who he is as a player and staring in his role. The Dale Pirate doesn’t put the ball on floor unnecessarily. He understands it’s more effective to keep the ball moving with passing while also not wasting dribbles or motion when it’s time to shoot. And shooting from deep is what he does, he always need to be accounted for once he crosses halfcourt. While shooting is his focus, he’s not an one dimensional player. Kelly has an outstanding work rate and feel on the defensive end, as he’s often in the right place at the right time to take charges, deflect a pass or win a 50/50 loose ball.
Oklahoma small towns have a deep history of elite shooters. Howry hails from tiny Garber just outside Enid, and at times last year put up eye popping stats with flurries of three. That play translated into the spring and summer as he thrived on the regional 16U circuit with the Oklahoma Wolfpack . In that setting he’s an outstanding off the ball shooter. With big time confidence and wasn’t bothered by pressure in high level moments. With dreams of a trip to the Big House for his Class A Wolverines, Howry is sure to have more high leverage moments to make a lasting mark on the Oklahoma high school basketball landscape.
