About Triston
Expert Analysis

Against the size and athleticism of BA, Driver had to unleash his full bag of tricks and moves to get it going. Which he has a wide array of scoring ability, good understanding of angles and feel as a driver to hit shots over the trees. His jumper was a bit off early, but closed strongly with tough threes during a rally attempt. Had a team high 17 points, with a good chunk of it being clutch buckets in the fourth.

Crafty lead guard, was a sharpshooter as an underclassman and then exploded as a complete scorer as a junior. Followed it up with an even more explosive barnstorming spring and summer on the grassroots circuit. Tight handle, is at his best when smoothly pulling up from three or mid-range. But has the handle, understanding of angles, and variety of finishing moves to still get off shots amongst the trees. Continual evolution as a creator has helped him impact winning even when shot isn’t falling. Tough to bet against him as he moves to Union and creates one of the best backcourt duos in Oklahoma.

Driver had a strong sophomore campaign, but has taken his game to the next level as the number one option for the 6A Spartans. He’s a flamethrower from deep, with an expanded off the dribble game. He has textbook footwork, pumpfakes and more on his drives. Another continuing sign of his evolving game has been him relishing and thriving as more of a playmaker and primary ballhandler for the Spartans. This growth in his game has also translated to winning basketball with Bixby in the top half of a competitive district with a 8-4 record in District play. Scoring was always going to be on the checklist for the skilled lead guard, but the wins and finding ways to impact the game beyond scoring is what will be needed to continue to help him translate his skillset to be ready to compete at the next level.

After back to back wins against 6A foes to start the year for Bixby, the Spartans slipped up in close battles with fellow 6A squads Deer Creek and Southmoore. Tuesday presented a huge opportunity for the 918 team to finish the first semester on a strong note, as they hosted undefeated Choctaw. Driver, who has torched the nets in previous games this year, saw his scoring performance be tame by his high standards with only 15 points. But perhaps more importantly, the junior handed out 7 assists. That contribution was pivotal in the big 71-63 win over Choctaw.
Driver and the Spartans are now 5-2 on the year, with a 3-1 mark in district that has them at a tie on top of the 6A District 4 standings. Importantly Bixby has wins over the fellow 3-1 teams, Jenks and Choctaw. The junior guard was expected to be one of the best shooters in the state, but this win over a senior laden, athletic Yellowjacket team where he had a balanced stat line is a huge sign of his development. The Spartans are off till the new year, with their next games coming in Bartlesville for their tournament.

Junior year is typically when prospects make a huge leap in their production and start to solidify their opportunities to be a next level player. Driver averaged 15 points a game last year, and based on how he’s looked this past spring and summer, 15 points will likely be a quiet night for him this winter. The junior lead guard has always had great range from beyond the arc, but he’s worked hard to become a complete scorer. He’s become quicker and stronger off the bounce, and looks ready to take the reigns of the high scoring Spartans offense.

Driver has range from deep that needs to be respected but this spring and summer he showed there’s more to his explosive scoring game. When opponents ran him off the line, he has improving burst to get downhill, where he understands angles to get his shot off and other ways to survive amongst the trees. He thrived in the up tempo setting of AAU basketball, consistently producing 30+ point games each month, often paired by making it rain from beyond the arc. Once one deep three was hit, the rim must’ve looked twice as big for the Spartan. Bixby is expected to remain an up tempo squad that emphasizes three point shooting, which means the success that Driver had these last six months should continue as he lights up gyms this winter.

After a productive sophomore campaign, Driver has used this spring to firmly make his case as one of the top shooters in the Class of 2025. Rather it’s off the dribble or catch and shoot, the Bixby Spartan has been an absolute flamethrower from beyond the arc. When defenses do close out on him, he’s becoming more efficient at the rim with a floater and stronger finishing through traffic. Even with defenses expected to focus on the prolific shooter, Driver looks ready to put up big numbers in Class 6A.

is a confident skilled guard that thrives in the big moments. Driver is a great facilitator for the Spartans but has no hesitation to let the ball fly from the behind the arc with a high clip. What makes Triston such a lethal shooter is the fact that he is just as strong on the catch and shoot as he is on the shot off the dribble only needing a sliver of separation to rise up and knock it down. Driver is a pace controller on both ends of the floor and not afraid to lead vocally. Triston loves to harass opponents on the defensive end and never lets up even when playing off the ball. Look for his stock to rise this summer as he continues to elevate his game.

The Bixby Spartan has been on a tear to star the grassroots season. It’s easy to see why with his ability to hit from distance with compact, quick three pointers. When he gets cleans looks in catch and shot situations, he has the range to hit from a foot or two beyond the current three point line. What adds to the dynamism of Driver’s game is he a good burst for a smaller guard, which allows him to pressure the defense. Where at the rim he showed a developing floater and solid job of taking contact. An aggressive defender when the Hawks pressed in the two contests, which led to some easy points in transition. His scoring package in the two wins were abilites, but at his size it will be good to see some more playmaking in future viewings.
