Continue ReadingStarting in the month of June, Division I schools could directly contact 2025 recruits and recruiting for these prospects has really picked up in the past month. With two June live periods and two July live periods after the contact period began, college programs are making recruiting 2025 prospects a priority. Here is what you need to know about Ohio’s 2025 class.
Top 50 national names seeing recruitment spike
Ohio has five prospects with top 50 national rankings on at least one national website, going down the list one by one, we start with Darryn Peterson Darryn Peterson 6'5" | CG Huntington Prep | 2025 State #4 Nation WV who recently posted that he’s considering a move to the 2024 class. Peterson’s recruitment has been headlined by blue blood programs and regional high major programs. Peterson recently mentioned Ohio State, North Carolina and Michigan State in an interview with ON3 about some of the programs making him a priority, but he hasn’t set any visits yet. Jerry Easter II Jerry Easter II 6'5" | PG La Lumiere | 2025 #55 Nation IN made the move to La Lumiere in Indiana to join an NIBC program for his junior season. After a season playing 17 U on the EYBL circuit, Easter has already racked up well over a dozen high major offers. Another prospect who is in the early stages of his recruitment, schools like Michigan State, Syracuse, Arkansas, Ole Miss and Washington are some of the programs with interest in the 2025 guard. Jayden Quaintance never played high school basketball in Ohio but raised in the Cleveland area, he’s made a lot of national news. For starters, Quaintance has reclassified to the 2024 class but will have to wait two seasons (2026 NBA draft) to make the potential jump to the NBA because he won’t turn 19 years old until summer of 2026. Potentially the youngest player in the country from the now 2024 class, Quaintance has been playing in the OTE league with Word of God and it appears G League Ignite is a potential avenue for Quaintance. That hasn’t stopped Blue Blood Programs like Kentucky from remaining heavily involved in his recruitment. Nikola Bundalo Nikola Bundalo 6'9" | PF Western Reserve Academy | 2025 State #22 Nation OH just yesterday confirmed his move to Western Reserve Academy after spending his first two years at Uniontown Green. Bundalo burst onto the national radar this spring with Wildcat Select 16 U and now holds high major offers from Xavier, Syracuse, Seton Hall, Rutgers, Purdue, Iowa, Ohio State, Illinois, Georgetown and more. Finally, Dorian Jones Dorian Jones 6'4" | SG Richmond Heights | 2025 State #61 Nation OH stands in the top 50 of national composite rankings and has seen his recruitment continue to evolve with regional high major programs continuing to make him a priority this summer. Recently being offered by Mississippi State, Rutgers, Dayton and Arkansas, Jones has also seen Cincinnati, Ohio State and Michigan State coaches often on the sidelines of his games. Expect Jones to begin to narrow down his list of schools this fall and schedule visits.
Other prospects with High Major offers
The top 50 national prospects aren’t the only ones receiving attention from high major programs. Rj Greer Rj Greer 6'4" | SG Kettering Alter | 2025 State #167 Nation OH played in the NBA Academy games down in Georgia during July and was a standout for his perimeter shooting. Greer, who missed a majority of his sophomore high school season, is now with Kettering Alter, who he played June with. Greer has added offers from Nebraska and Penn State this summer while regional programs like Xavier, Cincinnati and Michigan remain involved. Greer’s Dad is also an assistant coach at Dayton, which could play a factor in the end. Abdou Yadd Abdou Yadd 6'8" | C Spire | 2025 State #151 Nation OH is another prospect with high major interest. Nebraska, Arizona State and Seton Hall have all offered the Spire big. Sticking with the Nebraska theme, Antione West Jr Antione West Jr 6'3" | SG Toledo Whitmer | 2025 State #132 Nation OH was just offered by the Cornhuskers this week. He’s also gotten offers from Dayton, Xavier, Ohio, Penn State, Toledo and Duquesne with other high major programs like Ohio State closely monitoring the 2025 guard. Kingston Land Kingston Land 6'9" | PF Moeller | 2025 State #209 Nation OH has been offered by Daton, Virginia Tech, Xavier, Ohio and Bryant. Richmond Heights 2025 duo De’Erick Barber De’Erick Barber 5'11" | PG Richmond Heights | 2025 State #268 Nation OH and Demarris Winters Jr Demarris Winters Jr 6'3" | SG Richmond Heights | 2025 State OH also hold offers from Arizona State. Barber also has Kent State, Duquesne and Toledo while Winters Jr has Robert Morris, Kent State and Akron.
Low to Mid Major Programs being active in Ohio’s 2025 class
Ohio’s 2025 class has a chance to be the best class in Ohio in almost a decade. With the amount of high major names at the top, there’s also a ton of low to mid major prospects as well. Let’s take a look at some more prospects getting recruited at this level. For starters, the MAC is making this class a priority. Reynoldsburg’s duo of Jordan Fisher Jordan Fisher 6'5" | SF Reynoldsburg | 2025 State #392 Nation OH and Toby Nwokolo Toby Nwokolo 6'6" | PF Reynoldsburg | 2025 State OH were just offered by Ohio University this week. Fisher also has Akron, UT Rio Grande Valley and Youngstown State. Stretch forward Damon Friery Damon Friery 6'9" | PF Saint Ignatius | 2025 State #97 Nation OH was offered by Akron yesterday. Friery also has Dayton, Kent State, Toledo Ohio and Duquesne. I expect Friery to receive high major interest as an injury held him out from April to early July. His Saint Ignatius teammate Quinn Woidke Quinn Woidke 6'1" | CG Saint Ignatius | 2025 State OH has been a fast riser this spring and has Duquesne, Radford and Miami (OH) offers already. Landon Vanderwalker also added to his offer list this week, which now includes VCU, Ohio, Toledo and Utah Tech. Arness Lawson Arness Lawson 6'1" | PG Pickerington North | 2025 State #306 Nation OH was offered by Kent State this week and also holds an offer from Ohio. Makhi Leach Makhi Leach 6'2" | SG Toledo Whitmer | 2025 State OH holds an offer from MAC local program Toledo and College of Charleston. Kruz McClure Kruz McClure 6'6" | SG Westerville South | 2025 State #183 Nation OH was offered by Siena after a strong showing at Midwest Live. Kameron Sanders Kameron Sanders 6'3" | PG Fairfield | 2025 State OH has three offers from Mercer, Youngstown State and North Carolina A&T. Tommy Clark Tommy Clark 6'3" | SG Kings | 2025 State OH picked up his first offer from Radford after a strong showing at the 3SSB finals. Djiby Ly Djiby Ly 6'3" | SG Spire | 2025 State OH picked up his first offer to Cleveland State in April.
