I’ve now published 1600 articles for Prep Hoops. I can’t put into words how much I appreciate all of you for continuing to read and follow my work. For 1600 articles, I’m going to give you a look at 10 elite shooters in the state of Michigan.
Is there a more appropriate name to start with than MJ Yeager? He’s half of what I believe were dubbed by Coach Strong as The Parking Lot Brothers, which speaks to their unlimited range.
Highlights
Let’s just get right to the other half of The Parking Lot Brothers”. I can’t even fathom the backyard 3 point contests in the Yeager household. They both have elite range and consistency.

Haight is a prime example of what a strong showing on the Prep Hoops Circuit can do for a prospect. He’s been consistently one of the better or best shooters in the gym and his name has blown up because of it.

It feels like we’ve been talking about Smythe’s shooting for a decade now. I guess we hit that number. Well, here it is again….Smythe is an elite shooter. It’s not just the pure shot that’s impressive, but it’s his feel on the perimeter and ability to find open spaces.

I’ve written a lot recently about Vanlaningham’s development as a playmaker. But let’s get back to his roots. He began his ascent up the prospect rankings with that smooth jumper. Well, it’s just gotten better. Honestly, Vanlaningham should be considered a D1 shooter.
If you’re a coach or fan and you haven’t watched Westerdale play, I’d do it sooner than later. The young man is a bucket. He can bury a jumper from anywhere and at anytime, even with a hand in his face.

How exactly do you guard Brady Swartz Brady Swartz 6’7″ | SG Grand Rapids Northview | 2025 State MI ? Let’s start here….you better pick him up at the volleyball line because he has that kind of range. Better have some help behind you too, because Swartz can put the ball on the floor and create his own looks.

I recently put Schimpa in an article giving some examples of player we want to see at he Top 250 this fall. Well, as I said in that article, the young man can fill it up. Schimpa can be a gamechanger with the 3 ball.

Behnke is part of a really good group of young guards in the SEC. He can put the defense their heels with his quickness and handles and then pull up on a dime and bury a jumper. It could be really fun to see players like Behnke, Jonathan Sanderson Jonathan Sanderson 6’2″ | PG Saline | 2026 State MI , Jack DeMerell Jack DeMerell 6’1″ | SG Dexter | 2026 State MI , and Jaxson Francis go at it.
