Willing his way to the bucket in the second half, Sanderson helped put the Laker offense on his back with a ton of tough buckets on drives. Elite at attacking and finishing both ways, Sanderson had some strong drive and finishes with his left-hand on Sunday. I loved the aggressiveness Sanderson played with, refusing to let his team go down without a fight and rising to the moment.

Sanderson started the game off by dishing out four assists in the first quarter. Then, in the second, he took over in a scoring roll. The Notre Dame signee scored 10 points each in the third and fourth quarters to ultimately help lift La Lumiere to a 72-71 overtime victory against Lakota West. He finished with an impressive stat line of 26 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists.

Sanderson was in attack mode all day long for La Lumiere as they erased an early 10-0 deficit to win by double digits in a Nike Scholastic showdown. I was impressed by Sanderson’s live dribble passing ability, making some nice swings when his driving lanes where shut down by help-side defenders. Sanderson was finishing well with his left hand and his energy allowed him to get a pair of second chance buckets as well. A monster dunk off a backdoor cut got the La Lumiere crowd going crazy and Sanderson’s on ball defensive pressure caused issues all game for Iowa United. Impressive performance by the future Notre Dame guard.

One of the top backcourts in the country at the 16 U level is Wildcat Select’s and Sanderson played very impressively on Thursday to power them through to the next round. Always in attack mode, Sanderson looks to get downhill and create with his burst either for himself or a teammate. Knocking down some deep pull-up jumpers, Sanderson is a tough cover because of his ability to hit contested shots as well as provide rim pressure. A physically imposing guard, Sanderson has a strong frame and isn’t afraid to hit you first on a drive and get his defender off balance. As long as Wildcat Select doesn’t turn the ball over, they have the offensive talent to hang with anybody.

How do you rise when you were ranked #1 before? Just watch him play. Sanderson is a good old fashioned baller. He’s a big shot maker and a big shot taker. Look at his last 3 games: Sanderson has scored 115 points in 3 games. He put up 44 helping his Saline team to it’s first SEC title in a generation. Then he hit a volleyball line triple at the buzzer to win a game. Then last night he had 34 in a hard fought district semifinal. Sanderson will have a long list of schools of his choice by the time it’s all said and done.

Sanderson has been nothing but storybook this season. In 1 week he had 2 games over 40 points, one of which won his team it’s first SEC championship in so long that nobody really knew when the last one was. The second game that week he hit a volleyball line 3 pointer to win it. It’s starting to take a team of destiny type of feel.
