Western Kentucky got a good one in this super versatile three-star forward. Weis did a little bit of everything on the offensive end on Monday knocking down a couple of pick-and-pop three-point shots, finished a couple of strong post moves, and attacked the rim off of the bounce. The 6’7″ forward finished with 14 points on 6-9 shooting.

Another prospect playing in his home state, Weis and Wright each had a future college coach on the sidelines watching him play. Weis rotated for a monster blocked shot early in the game but his offense came alive in the fourth quarter when he hit a pick and pop 3-pointer, scored on an up and under and then finished a layup off a lob. Physically Weis should be ready for the college level from day one and has the talent to be an impact player for Western Kentucky.

Weis is the second Western Kentucky commit on this list as the former Washington County High School standout is at his second prep program since leaving Kentucky. After playing for Montverde as a junior, Weis is now at La Lumiere where he should play a featured role for the Nike Scholastic program. Weis had a strong summer for Kentucky Basketball Club on the Puma circuit where his athleticism, strength, defensive versatility and ability to play above the rim all shined.

Weis has been one of the biggest risers in the 2026 class, steadily climbing the rankings with his combination of size, skill, and scoring ability. At 6-8, he thrives as a perimeter threat while also using his length to finish at the rim. His development on both ends of the floor has been impossible to ignore, and as he continues to sharpen his all-around game, his stock is only going up.

Making the move from Washington County to Montverde Academy is a big shift in competition level for Weis, who was regarded as one of the top prospects in the Midwest for the 2026 class. Playing for Central KY on the Made Hoops Circuit up an age group, Weis got the opportunity to play with the ball in his hands and against older opposition. I was impressed with his first half on Saturday morning as he got to his spots and scored efficiently. In transition, Weis is tough to stop as he can play above the rim as he threw down an impressive alley-oop slam dunk. Able to finish at the rim with either hand, Weis had a couple strong lefty finishes. Hoping to see Weis develop more of a perimeter scoring game, he had a couple mid-range shots go in but also settled for some contested shots. Physically and defensively I expect Weis to be able to compete in practice at Montverde, but the learning curve going up against five star talents in practice every day should improve his game but also take some time.

Weis maintains at the number 2 spot and some would argue that he should be first. Thanks to his height and athleticism, Gabe has elite long term potential but he’s still not the best player on his high school team. Senior

leads Washington County in scoring, rebounding and field goal percentage. Gabe’s long term potential is sky high but right now, Weis just needs to keep getting better and raising his overall skill level.

You can just tell Weis has a natural gift of understanding how to play basketball as he has one of the better feels I have seen at the high school level. Never got sped up, was very poised on drives to either score or make the right pass and showed great instincts defensively blocking shots and getting deflections. He is a guy at the next level you can run offense thru with his passing ability. He is an exciting player to get behind in the state and will be someone to watch at the next level as he continues to develop.

If this list were based only off of scholarship offers, Weis would be at the top by a large margin. While he’s not quite as effective a player as those ahead of him, Gabe is a big time talent and one of the top overall prospects in the state, regardless of class.

Weis moves up to the number 2 spot in the rankings and is closing in on the top spot thanks to his size, length and athleticism. Gabe has improved a ton in the last twelve months and his frame is starting to fill out as he’s adding muscle. An explosive athlete at 6’6, if Gabe grows a couple more inches, he will earn even more Power 5 offers.
