A flat out winner, Tyson knocked down the game-winning shot for Phenom United with two seconds left to break a 66-66 tie with Breakaway Basketball. Tyson is one of the top competitors in high school basketball and when it was game time, he stepped up for his team. Tyson came out the gates with a purpose, knocking down two nasty pull-up 3-pointers and throwing down a breakaway dunk to help Lakota West jump out to a 18-0 lead. Tyson ended with a game-high 19 points and had a clutch and-1 layup with about two minutes to play to break a 47-47 tie. Lakota West also ran some nice sets for Tyson to score off backdoor cuts and they always look to advance the basketball up the court off steals and defensive rebounds. Impressive win by Lakota West who are close to clinching the conference title after this win.

On a court full of high major commits, Tyson was the best athlete on the floor with a handful of dynamic moves to the rim off the dribble. Nobody on La Lumiere could keep Tyson out of the paint as he got where he wanted off the dribble all game long. His dribble drive game also opened up the floor for his teammates as Tyson beat hard hedges with the pass. Defensively, Tyson also turned defense into offense with a couple steals that immediately let to breakaway dunks. Incredible performance by a potential Mr Basketball favorite.

Currently ranked as the #2 prospect in Ohio’s Class of 2027, Tyson already holds a dozen Division I offers. Dayton head coach Anthony Grant along with an assistant from Ohio State were in attendance to see the explosive 6’2″ guard score a game-high 28 points for Lakota West in their hard-fought 72-71 overtime loss to La Lumiere. His explosiveness really stands out in everything he does on the floor.

Lakota West is our preseason #1 team in Ohio heading into the season and they looked the part on Saturday with a dominant win over one of the best teams from Lexington. Tyson was getting after it defensively from the point of attack, making it miserable for Frederick Douglass guards to even cross half court. Tyson also knocked down a couple 3-pointers and made the right extra pass when it was there. The type of performance you’d expect from our top ranked 2027 prospect in the OHSAA.
