Below are five southeastern Pennsylvania based hoops predictions for the June 2023 high school live period.

1) Archbishop Carroll's Class of 2026 Will Hold Their Own

Thanks to graduation and transfers, during this June live period Coach Bowe and his staff will be relying heavily on their acclaimed group of 2026 prospects. Point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1608257' first='Ian' last='Williams'] (9 ppg.; 4.6 apg.; 4 rpg.) started 23 games as a freshman which makes him the seasoned veteran of this group. Three level scorer [player_tooltip player_id='1406770' first='Nasir' last='Ralls'] (7 ppg.) saw significant minutes in 2022-23 as well. Joining those two highly ranked 2026s in the starting five will be athletic small forward [player_tooltip player_id='1454254' first='Luca' last='Foster'] and multi-skilled big man [player_tooltip player_id='1493183' first='Drew' last='Corrao'].

2) A Flood of Transfer Announcements is Coming

So far in our Transfer Watch 2023 series we have highlighted forty SEPA prospects who have announced they will be changing schools for the 2023-24 academic year. That number will skyrocket here in June. Prospects who are considering switching schools will “guest play” for prospective “new' teams during the June live period. Too frequently, those “guest players” excel in June and quickly decide they are ready to make the change. Additionally, the college transfer portal continues to jam up recruiting for high school kids. That logjam at the college level will motivate even more prospects to transfer high schools and reclass during June.

3) Friends Central's Lineup Is Going to Turn Heads

Head Coach Mike Cook returns several key players including elite combo guards [player_tooltip player_id='1192647' first='Reid' last='Belcher'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1173986' first='Fazl' last='Oshodi'], wing [player_tooltip player_id='1176360' first='Muhsin' last='Muhammad'], stretch-4 prospect [player_tooltip player_id='1123937' first='Isaac' last='Moore'] and shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id='1195818' first='Gabe' last='Moore']. Now add in transfers [player_tooltip player_id='1406790' first='Patrese' last='Feamster'] (7 ppg. at SCH Academy last year) as well as [player_tooltip player_id='1477738' first='Su-Meer' last='Alleyne'] (5.5 ppg. & 4 rpg. at Carroll in 2022-23) and the Phoenix suddenly have an extremely formidable seven-man rotation. It will be interesting to witness how quickly this talented squad gels.

4) SEPA's Loaded Class of 2027 Will Impress

In May we highlighted a host of 2027s who grabbed our attention on the spring grassroots circuit. Names like Tyler Sutton, [player_tooltip player_id='1454260' first='Silas' last='Graham'], [player_tooltip player_id='1406767' first='Munir' last='Greig'], Nick Harken, [player_tooltip player_id='1406896' first='Marvin' last='Reed'], Nazir Tyler, and [player_tooltip player_id='2407095' first='Zion' last='Green'] earned repeated mentions. But Pennsylvania's Class of 2027 runs extremely deep with talent. Thus, there will be many more prospects to watch this month as the 2027s take the court with their high school squads. Many of those ‘27s will be seen by scouts and college coaches for the first time. So, during this HS live period we expect to be writing extensively about 2027s who have impressed us.

5) Central York Comes to Philly and Captures Ws

In 2022-23 Central York won 22 games, captured the YAIAA championship and qualified for the 6A state tournament. They only graduated one player from that extremely successful team, but somehow people are still overlooking this squad. That would be a mistake for opponents facing them at Philly HS Live Session 1, because this roster features a bevy of highly touted college prospects. Among that group are top ranked 2024 wing prospect [player_tooltip player_id='1281777' first='Greg' last='Guidinger'], super skilled floor general [player_tooltip player_id='1287319' first='Ben' last='Natal'] and polished big man [player_tooltip player_id='1271440' first='Ben' last='Rill']. Plus, talented combo guard JoJo Woodyard and 6'3” rising junior Azmir Ludvig are two Central York prospects flying under the radar.
