Ralls is somewhat of an established commodity, having been a key piece of the Carroll rotation since freshman year, but has elevated himself so far this winter with a scorching start to the year. Playing in a handful of high-profile showcases outside the area, Ralls is averaging close to 20 points per game while shooting well over 40% from beyond the arc. He’s also shown growth as a playmaker while maintaining a positive assist-to-turnover ratio, and continues to profile as an elite on-ball pest defensively. High-level D2 programs and lower D1s should be monitoring Ralls closely, while prep school could also be a route worth considering with him being on the younger side of his grade.

Ralls stole the show for Carroll in their 75-62 win over Coolidge on Friday and it was all due to his lethal long-range shooting. The 6-foot-1 guard seemed to always make the react as soon as his defender turned their head to help defensively and when his teammates found Ralls standing on the perimeter, he got his shot up quick to avoid any clean contest. He was super efficient with his shot selection as indicated by his 29 points on just 14 attempts from the field. He knocked down 6-of-9 from three and also accounted for a couple of steals as a result of active hands in the passing lanes.

Ralls had himself a night and Archbishop Carroll needed every bit of it early on to stay within striking distance of the hosting Coolidge team. Standing around 6-foot-1, Ralls’ range extends well beyond the high school three-point line. He started the game with two triples and spent the rest of the first half making defenders pay for wild closeouts by attacking and getting to the rim for scores or fouls. In the second half, Ralls found openings while hovering around the perimeter, especially once Coolidge flashed some zone defense. He’d go on to put up 29 points on a super clean 6-of-9 from three in 28 minutes of play.

Ralls has teamed with Williams in the backcourt since both were freshmen, and the Patriots are hoping to see that experience pay dividends as the now-senior tandem fully takes the reins of the program. A scorer by nature, Ralls is a dynamic perimeter shooter with deep range and a quick, confident release while letting fly in tight spaces. He’s proven himself to be one of the more intimidating point-of-attack defenders in the area with quick feet and the mentality to never concede an inch. Where he’s made strides in Williams’ absence is in his ability to function as a lead guard, opening up potential at the D1 level while a litany of D2s and JUCOs have already been recruiting him as a combo.

At the Gym Rat Live event (NY), Ralls proved once again that he is DI guard with a well-rounded skill set. Ralls scored off the dribble via lay-ins, floaters, and runners. His ability to knock down difficult angle shots and score through contact were impressive. These assets enabled Ralls to thrive in the open court too. If a defender elected to sag off Ralls, he dialed up threes. Ralls willingness to facilitate for others jumped out as much as his impressive scoring abilities. He is a guard who was willing to make the extra pass and did not force ill-advised shots. Ralls drive and kick dimes were remarkable.

Given the fact that he’s been contributing since early in his freshman year, the consistency and value of Ralls’ impact can go overlooked at times alongside some splashy high-major talents. Shooting and defense are always in demand, however, and Ralls provides both in spades with a nonstop energy and intensity in the backcourt. While not a true lead guard, he showed ability off the bounce while navigating to the rim to finish, also finding his way into the right spots for scrap points in some key moments. Firmly on the scholarship radar, Ralls will surely attract D1 coaches on the sidelines in HGSL competition this spring and summer.

Ralls has already received offers from several mid-major programs, but after his tremendous shooting performances recently, we expect P4 offers will be rolling in soon. For example, on Saturday Ralls pumped in 6 triples on his way to 22 points. Ralls was especially accurate on 3-point attempts from the wing. He also drained a couple transition threes as well as a triple after a filthy dribble, step back. In addition to hitting from long range, Ralls displayed solid court vision as he delivered a handful of dimes to teammates that led to easy buckets.
