To me the 2A classification is is intriguing because of the number of teams who have a chance to win a championship when it is all said and done. There hasn't been a whole lot of surprising scores, and the same group of teams I thought would do well have gotten off to great starts for the most part. Here is a look at my top 2A teams and some of the players on those teams.

1.Tumwater

This team has a little bit of everything built around senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1270732' first='Luke' last='Brewer']. They are a deep team and can play 10 different players and they are all understanding of their roles. A big surprise early is the play of [player_tooltip player_id='1587973' first='Gunnar' last='Harroun'], the 6'6 post is making a name for himself with some strong interior play. Blocked shots scoring and rebounding. [player_tooltip player_id='1416732' first='Andrew' last='Collins'] is looking good as the secondary option in the backcourt. I am moving them up to number one because of depth and defense, to go with an all state guard who broke Tumwater's all time three point record in his first game of the season.

2.Pullman

I am moving them two more of a 1B spot then number two. They are off to a 4-0 start with [player_tooltip player_id='1155898' first='Jaedyn' last='Brown'] leading the way. The dynamic shooting guard/point guard is off to a great start, including a 37 point effort early in the season. [player_tooltip player_id='1612189' first='Champ' last='Powaukee'] has been a solid player in his junior season and providing offense with a couple scoring nights in the 20 point range. The size of the Hounds has been a factor with [player_tooltip player_id='1450616' first='Austin' last='Hunt'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1580675' first='Dane' last='Sykes'] playing well.

3.Mark Morris

Yes they have lost a game but it was to 4A Jackson and only by two points. One of their big three wasn't playing yet. [player_tooltip player_id='1270616' first='Deacon' last='Dietz'] is back in action. [player_tooltip player_id='1270714' first='Kobe' last='Parlin'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1450497' first='Braydon' last='Olson'] have been putting up some monster scoring games. With those three and a solid supporting cast, I am giving them the three spot. They have been solid with a win over Mountlake Terrace and a convincing win over a good Woodland team this week. There is another team across town who will be a tough match-up. RA. Long and [player_tooltip player_id='1270613' first='Cavin' last='Holden'], who scored a school record 54 points last night. He is on a scoring terror to start the season.

4.Ellensburg

After a surprising early season loss to Hermiston, they have come together to get themselves back on track. They beat fellow CWAC contender Grandview last night. A good team, and they do it with great size and the play of [player_tooltip player_id='1052463' first='Gavin' last='Marrs'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1365931' first='Emmett' last='Fenz'] has been very good early on. They also got some other strong contributions vs Grandview and move to 5-1 on the season. They are led by [player_tooltip player_id='1365931' first='Emmett' last='Fenz'] who is scoring around 28 points points a game and [player_tooltip player_id='1052463' first='Gavin' last='Marrs'] who is around 20.

5.Lynden

A little bit of a late start after their state football championship. They are doing just regardless. [player_tooltip player_id='1450490' first='Anthony' last='Canales'] is a great scorer who affects the game in a lot of ways. [player_tooltip player_id='1417278' first='Coston' last='Parcher'] is the same, although he runs the show for Lynden who should never be counted out.

6.Sehome

Off to a great start with almost the entirety of their roster back from last season's, state qualifier. They are led by seniors [player_tooltip player_id='1270843' first='Grant' last='Kepley'], [player_tooltip player_id='1417280' first='Grey' last='Garrison'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1416282' first='Mathew' last='Storms']. Maybe the biggest backcourt in all of 2A. They currently sit in the one spot in RPI.

Next up

North Kitsap, Grandview, Anacortes, R.A. Long
