About Kobe
Expert Analysis
Justin Prather | Prep Hoops Scout
He leads MM in scoring at around 23 points a game. He is touagh and can score from all levels. He is a great shooter and his mid-range game is on point. More about this later. He has been a scoring machine all year. He is great at getting to the basket and has a lot of craftiness when he does get to the rim. He is a quicker, stronger, and better version of last year’s self w5hen he averaged 19 points a game.

and they are a duo who could lead their teams far. Parlin could take over at any moment, which he has done multiple times this year. He’s scored 10+ in a quarter multiple times this year, and often goes for over 20 in a game. He’s patient with the ball, playing in control and hustling. He can facilitate the game well. The key to his game is balance. He scores when he wants but he finds his teammates good. He is a fantastic creator and he doesn’t tuhe ball over much.

Mark Morris has a trio of guards and I have written about all three more than once. It has been just two thus far, playing without

. So far Parlin is off to a monster start, averaging 28.5 a game in the Monarch’s 3-1 start to the season. He is one of the top guards in 2A and I could have said that last year too. He can score it with the best of them. With

and a healthy Dietz, Mark Morris will be a tough match-up on the perimeter all season long.

This senior is someone I’m watching closely this year. He was a player who I thought could do some special things for this Mark Morris team. He’s EXTREMELY athletic, dunking on someone during their win over Ridgefield. He also dropped 34 points that night, overall having a big game for the senior. I don’t think this will be his last game like this.

He is off to a strong start to the season, netting over 20 points in each of his first 3 games. Mark Morris is off to a 2-1 start with wins over Mountlake Terrace, where he had 29, and Hudson’s Bay (22). He had 25 in the two-point loss to 4A Jackson. He is a creative scoring guard whose points come in a variety. He also had a dunk vs Hudson’s Bay after missing one early in the game, he redeemed himself by throwing one down shortly after. This speaks to his athletic ability at 6’1. He has been solid so far in all three games and should continue to have that success as he averaged around 19 last season.

He averaged 26.5 points in the two games Mark Morris played last week. He had 28 to open the season in a victory over Mountlake Terrace. He followed that with 25 in the loss to Jackson. No surprise here either. He averaged 19 a game last season. I have written about him before and mentioned that he keeps getting better, year after year. He is quicker, and stronger. He has always been a bucket getter. He is a fun player to watch with his craftiness and lights out shooting. Mark Morris has two of the best pure scoring guards in 2A with he and

In all his years of starting for the Monarchs, I doubt there’s much he hasn’t seen. That alone, is one advantage he holds over the majority of the players in 2A, or any level. He is a great scoring guard, who has become better every year. I can remember watching him from a couple seasons ago, and his game has been polished in every aspect since. He is stronger and quicker, allowing him to rebound and defend better. He can get to the bucket and finish through contact. His overall movement is more fluid and it shows up in all aspects. He can do it all, including the ability to score on all levels. I love his craftiness, which he usually has on full display, making tough shots, or setting himself up to do so. He is a lights out shooter and shoots the three at a very high percentage. One thing that stands out to me as far as how he can really help his team this year is his ability to rebound. I guess you could say everyone has that ability but he is great at reading the ball off the rim with perfect timing. He can also jump well, with the end result being a lot of grab and go rebounds, starting the break. Regardless of the situation, this will help to offset the Monarchs overall lack of size

Parlin has the build that makes you go, “Woah.” He’s a super lengthy combo guard (6’7″ wingspan) that makes plays in a variety of ways for the Monarchs. He averaged about 19 points per game last season and plays with an intensity that leads to a bunch of steals and transition buckets. They ran into a Prosser buzzsaw at last year’s state tournament, but Parlin leads a three-headed backcourt at Mark Morris, and is a player to watch who plays with a hunger for more.

Seems like he’s been getting buckets for MM for years. That’s because he has. Last season he led the team in scoring at 18PPG. He is one of the smoothest lefty guards you’ll find in the entire state. He excels at both getting himself to the bucket, and knocking down shots from deep. His mid-range game is on point. None of the three guards at MM are lacking in the mid-range game. He can pull up with a quick jumper, but it is his craftiness that stands out to me. He can get a bucket when his team needs one. He’s really improved his speed and quickness, turning him into a scoring machine.
