He is the other half of the duo of versatility in Ellensburg. He is averaging 19 points a game through the first four. I don’t have rebounding stats, but I believe he had 17 rebounds in the opener. It is safe to assume that he is averaging a double double or at least close to that. His skill level is one that along with Fenz, is a nightmare match-up. These two are a big part of why I believe Ellensburg can make a deep post-season run. I am interested in seeing how the match-ups go with some of the teams in their own league first. In particular, Grandview who has a trio of guards that are off to a great start. Lino Armandarez, and

was an all league pick last year. In a lot of ways these two teams are polar opposites, Ellensburg with size and Grandview with quickness but not much size.

I would probably have to retire myself from writing these if I didn’t include him. He’s got one of the most unique skill sets in Washington high school basketball. Oregon State should be loving the fact that he has chosen the Beavers to continue his basketball career. At 6’11 he is almost a guard in a big man’s body. He can handle the ball, he lets it fly from long distance with a shot that looks as if he is a 2 guard. He is also a monster in the paint, blocking shots and hammering some backboard shaking dunks. He runs the floor. I know nothing of his early years of basketball, but it’s as if he hit a growth spurt of a foot somewhere along the line. Thus exploring the ball skills.

I couldn’t leave Marrs off of here because for how good he has been, he still has more to show us. He is a player that should be close to un-guardable against most 2A teams and has shown over the summer how rare his skillset is. It will be interesting to see how far he can take the Bulldogs this season as one of the top players in the state.

We didn’t get to see a lot of Marrs last season but he’s back and healthy, ready to try and lead Ellensburg to their first state playoff appearance since 2016. Marrs is a unicorn of sorts with his combination of size, mobility, and ball skills. At 6’11, he’s a big threat around the rim and can surprise players with his quickness off the dribble too. Marrs is committed to playing basketball at Oregon State when his high school career is over.

The recent Oregon State commit doesn’t need an introduction. He’s one of the best prospects in the state. He does everything well and his skill set is special. He is different and he’s a difference maker. He could be cutting the nets down before he leaves for Corvallis.

Another player who made my all classifications team. He could become the best prospect in the state. You might not think interchangeable when you see that he’s 6’11”. You’d be wrong, although he does everything a back to the basket post would be expected to do and does it well. The most impressive thing is that he can bring the ball up the floor, shoots it really well from three, and can do guard like things better than most guards. He runs very well. He’s active. I use that word a lot, and when I do, I think of a player who runs like a deer, goes and gets rebounds, blocks shots, and has highlight reel dunks. He is probably the most “active” player I have ever written about here.

All the sudden this team just got a whole lot better. I have star power on both sides now. The tallest player on each side, I won’t panic if he decides to bring the ball up the floor. That’s how unique his skill-set is. He can do it all, and this is also a no brainer. I have potentially the biggest prospect on either side, playing for the East. Do your thing.

He’s the number six player in the class of 2023. When it’s all said and done, he could be the best prospect in the state. He missed some games last year due to injury, now fully healthy he’s getting a lot of attention from college coaches and rightly so. At 6’10, he is the best post prospect in the class of 23. You might think back to the basket player, but he’s much more than that. He can extend his shooting range beyond the three point line. He is extremely mobile for a big guy and can really run the floor. I don’t know, think Chet Holmgren. He’ll put it on the deck and get himself to the bucket. Unique skill set for his size. He has a little nasty to his game as well. He’s athletic enough to catch a lob running the break. He’s a good shot blocker. Take notice, he’s about to rise up.

You know Marrs is a special type of player from the moment you see him. He has incredible mobility for a player of his stature, and he has the ball skills to make the most of it. He runs the court, can put it on the floor and get to the hoop, and has great bounce to be a big factor on the boards. He is really an interesting player who displays one of the higher ceilings in his class. He can be rolled out at the next level and immediately pose mismatches. If he continues to get stronger and work on his shot, he should be an impact player wherever his next stop is.
