Murphy is a strong wing who has shown the ability to be a consistent finisher at the hoop with his slashes. Has done a better job with his pickups through traffic and that ability to get to the rim has opened up a lot more easy buckets for him. He has a good frame, so once he gets in close, he has the strength and power to finish through defenders. Has also been knocking down open shots away from the basket with better regularity, and should be a kid to watch at Davis this winter.

Murphy was very impressive at the camp, using his big body to get up and down the floor and attack the rim in different scenarios. Showed he can play off of two and convert strong finishes through contact at the rim, but also had some great moments in space where he used different gathers and footwork to step around defenders on his drives. Was constantly getting out on the break to finish plays and also showed he can knock down some open shots from behind the arc.

This spring was the first time I got to see Murphy live, and he’s a good athlete who competes around the rim. He’s got a solid frame, plays out of a strong base around the paint, and does a good job attacking and finishing at the rim. He moves well in transition, finding lanes, changing direction, and uses his body well to get through contact.
