Continue ReadingHe might be class of 2025 but he’s my West team captain. I love the way he competes. He’s as skilled a player you will find in class 1A. After helping Kings to a number one ranking most of the season before falling to Lynden Christian in the title game. He was the second option to get buckets, with number one gone on to play in college, he’s the man this year. He’ll be a sophomore but you won’t see him flinch under pressure. His team will have a chance to avenge the title this year and he’s the reason why. He’s got a good supporting cast, but his ability to elevate his game above the competition is uncanny for a sophomore to be. My pick for class 1A player of the year. It has been said that his coaches treated him more like an experienced senior last year as a freshman. He returned the favor by playing like one.

Good luck finding two competitors like my first two on the West side. This kid is skilled and athletic. He knows what he needs to do to elevate his game and he does it. This makes for two sophomores on my West team and they are the two players who come to mind first. A double double as a freshman, enough said. Both these players are interchangeable and I trust them to do their thing.
Give me a knock down shooter. I have one right here. He can stretch the floor as my two guard, which is a necessity on my team. You cannot leave him or he will make you pay. Although it’s not that easy. He works at his game, knowing this will happen. He makes adjustments and has a great mid-range game. When I think shooting guard, I think of him. He’s also 6’4, long, and will offer up his game at another level this year. The light is always green! Only senior on my West team.

I have a pair of teammates from Annie Wright and neither are seniors. The number five ranked player in the class of 2025, he’s another versatile guard with great size. The West is wide open and doesn’t feature a true post player. That said, none are shorter than 6’4. He’s an athletic guard who picks his spots well and can get to the bucket. He’s used to getting outlets from Kaupanger and running it. Points are no premium for the West side. They can run and shoot from all positions and he’s a great catalyst for that.
üNobody makes my team without a great work ethic. This kid has it. The third sophomore on the West team, the future is bright in class 1A. He’s also interchangeable, and can shoot it well from beyond the arc. This team would destroy a, zone, but we got it all covered. His mid-range is also up to par.At 6’3, he’s the shortest player on the West team, and the fourth guard listed so far.
I need a big body in the paint who can mix it up. He’s my guy. I probably start him and can use any of the former for sixth man instant offense off the bench. He’s the tallest player on either team. I like his skills on the block and can mix it up as the only true post player from the West. . He will be a great source of offensive rebounds, he won’t stray from his strengths, and can send some shots the other direction.
EAST SIDE
I’m starting this team with a multi-faceted true competitor. He’s playing quarterback for Freeman right now and does both sports on an all-state level. What I get here is a legitimate threat to post a triple double from the guard position. He’s tough, he can get down on the defensive side of the ball, rebound, and find his shooters with his excellent court vision. He’s a good leader and the start of a common theme for the East.

Speaking of all state caliber quarterbacks, here’s another one. He’s a true point guard on my team with elite shooting skills. He’s tough and with these two QBs, I have leadership in the backcourt. He’s steady with the ball and can be trusted under pressure. That goes for both sports.

Here’s a kid who will get you a lot of buckets. He did just that last season on a good Zillah team that made the state tournament. At 6’4″, he follows the theme of the west as my stretch three. I do expect to get work done in the paint with rebounds and defense from the long and athletic star who dropped around 20PPG as a junior. He’s active and the harder he plays, the better he is.
My teams are going to well stocked with shooters. He’s one of the best and has no conscience as he shouldn’t. He’ll run off 12 points before the opponent can get a time-out. As an athletic wing he fits the theme. Don’t be surprised to see his name as the leading scorer for the East. He’s explosive in the open floor and should get a lot of easy ones running it. Unlike the West, the East has four seniors, along with this class of 2024 phenom.
Im going to stick with another theme and add my third all state caliber quarterback. Another athletic, skilled, and interchangeable guard. With three QBs, the East makes my job easier. I have great leaders who are great under pressure. It’s not out of the question that one might get a state title on the gridiron. This team is built to run, no pun intended, and pressure defense is a strength with the quickness. He and the former player listed faced off in an overtime district tournament thriller last season and both went over the thirty point mark.
Yes, I know he is a 2B player but he just showed up on the wrong day and wanted to play. I needed a sixth man and he was a perfect fit. His brother was an elite scorer for Manson. He’s gone to graduation but the younger version offers up a lot of the same skills. He’s confident and can give me some scoring and energy off the bench. What can I say. I need six and he was there. The 2025 guard isn’t going to be the star but he’ll play hard and I like his attitude. He’s got three more years to elevate into stardom. He’s got skills and work ethic to do so. He made the team.
