About Jacob
Expert Analysis
Devin Record | Prep Hoops Scout
Jacob is easily the top player in the class, maybe even the state. He is a 6’10” monster in the paint who is extremely crafty for his size. He has great touch around the rim and his footwork is elite. Cofie knocks down mid-range shots nicely and has a much improved deep shot. He is a top 100 ranked player nationally, given the reason why he’s headed to the University of Virginia next year. He dominated the 3A state tournament, averaging 18pts and 11reb a game and leading Eastside Catholic to their first ever state championship.

He looked like a unicorn handling the ball at 6-foot-9 and was a tough matchup for anyone trying to stop him. His handle is a lot tighter than last year, the jumper continues to get better and better, and he’s a vocal leader out there. He’s quicker through gaps, stronger at the rim, and worked from all areas of the court, though he wasn’t required to shoot many from behind the arc.

Jacob showed off his multi dimensional skillset on Friday afternoon in Eastside Catholic’s tough less to Mater Dei. He can handle very well for his size which enables him to be a perimeter scoring threat with a quickness advantage over most defenders his size. Cofie can also shoot the ball effectively from all over the floor and with his high release point it’s very difficult to really bother him.
