This is the type of play I’ve been waiting to see consistently from Carter who flashed his humungous upside last season. The 6’5 guard has huge scoring potential starting with his ability to handle the rock. It’s almost like he mesmerizes defenders when he starts putting the ball on the floor, rocking defenders with his crossover then bursting by them down the lane. He operates best with the ball in his hands and can score from each level with extended range behind the arc. When he plays with the type of aggression he showed this weekend he is an impact player you can run your offense through and trust he’ll be able to manufacture good looks nearly every time down. If he brings this level of energy every game for Annie Wright, they will most certainly be a top three team in the 1A.

The other Annie Wright player on the list, he was the leading scorer last season on a state tournament team, averaging 20PPG. This team is loaded with talented underclassmen.

Having recently watched him in Bellevue at the Top 250 Expo, he was even more impressive in person. He was on another level with his athleticism and overall skills from the point guard position. He can play either guard spot, and after leading his team with 20PPG as a sophomore, the sky is the limit for this kid. He brings a rare combination of skill and size for a guard at the 1A level. The duo of he and Kaupanger is the best in the state at the 1A level. Hard to bet against these two. There is plenty more talent on this team, making them my pick to win it.

The playmaking here is apparent; Carter can make some outstanding plays passing and getting to the hoop. He showed off some deep range like usual and affected the game almost every time he took to attacking. At times it looked like things came too easy for him and I can’t help but think there’s another level to his game we haven’t seen yet.

Annie Wright wins back to back state titles. He’s one of the biggest reasons why. He has a few teammates that contribute greatly to this prediction. Mainly

,who I am disappointed that I didn’t get to see him in Bellevue. These two are at another level in 1A basketball. There are teams that will have something to say about this. Kings, Lynden Christian, to ba a couple. This kid will also have something to say. Mainly that he’s an ultra athletic guard with great size and two years of high school left. The 1A state tournament will be one to watch this season.

He was teammates with Skaife which made for quite a backcourt duo. They were clearly the most dynamic backcourt that I watched. He was also on another level. He’s only a junior but has great size and maturity for a guard. He was good enough to get himself a bucket whenever he felt the need to. For him, it was definitely a showcase as he was getting dunks on the break, and having fun out there mainly because he could. There were times when he had to revert to his skill-set and go at it hard to to make the right plays. He still had no problems with doing that. He was a man among boys, and he looked college ready as, well. It’s good to work on things in the off-season, and build on your weakest aspects of the game. Well, it seemed like he was doing that, only they weren’t really weaknesses. He was that much better than most of the other players in the game I watched. Which allowed him to show off his excellent skills. Mainly his ability to get to the rim and either finish strong or find the open man. He had some nice mid range moves mixed in and his ball handling was on full display. He didn’t shoot many threes because he didn’t have to and seemed to be more interested in how or which method he would use to get into the lane and act accordingly once he was there. It was clear to see that he is a big time talent and he has two more years to be an even bigger one. College basketball is in his future if he so desires. What level is the only question left to answer. With the size and skills he has, the sky is the limit for him as he continues to hone in on those specific things that will be important when facing next level competition. Work. Put in the work and you will see the reward.

Scoring is starting become an easy thing for the 6-foot-5 combo guard from Annie Wright. Hunter Carter Hunter Carter 6'5" | CG Annie Wright | 2024 CO is one of the more dynamic players out of 2024 class and is creative with his moves. He scored in multiple ways inside and out at the Expo. His offensive rebounding efforts at his size lead to a lot of easy looks inside. He’ll pull out turnaround jumpers and will catch defenders slipping up with off balance push shots.

Anyone looking for a legitimate college level prospect, look no further. He’s a top ranked player in the class of 2024, and has the skills, athleticism, and size to be a good college player. He’s 6’5 and can play either guard spot. He got 20 a game on a good Annie Wright team as a, sophomore last season. He’s a big time talent and not the only one from his school that I am excited to see. One of the better college prospects in the entire field, he will no doubt turn some heads.

I have a pair of teammates from Annie Wright and neither are seniors. The number five ranked player in the class of 2025, he’s another versatile guard with great size. The West is wide open and doesn’t feature a true post player. That said, none are shorter than 6’4. He’s an athletic guard who picks his spots well and can get to the bucket. He’s used to getting outlets from Kaupanger and running it. Points are no premium for the West side. They can run and shoot from all positions and he’s a great catalyst for that.

No. 2 | Carter is a big guard that brings excellent playmaking ability as well as deep three-point range. He was one of the older players on a young Annie Wright squad last year that lost at state to the eventual first and second place teams. Carter can make some flashy plays at times and can really score in the paint when he makes the effort. I’d like to see him be more aggressive this season and really set the pace for the Gators, who have the talent to turn the heat up on the rest of 1A in 2022.
