The engine to Westerville North on both ends of the court, Perkins really makes the Warriors go. His ball pressure is the first thing opposing guards have to deal with against the famous Westerville North full-court pressure that forced so many turnovers today. Offensively, Perkins had a quick 5-0 run when North Royalton was making their biggest push of the game and throughout the contest Perkins was making quick skip passes to set up open shots for teammates. We’ll see if Perkins can finish off a second straight state title tomorrow afternoon!
Back with Nova Village 17 U this weekend, Perkins did what I usually notice him doing which is applying incredible defensive pressure as well as attacking off the bounce to the rim. You won’t find many (if any) better point of attack defenders than Perkins in Ohio and his quick hands allow him to rack up the steals. You don’t see many 2027 kids playing major role on circuit teams anywhere but Perkins has consistently found ways to be impactful with this nova village group alongside other Division I prospects.

This dynamic 5’9″ guard from Westerville North High School had no issue while playing up at the 17u level with NOVA Village
at The Stage. The dynamic left-handed point guard ran the show on the perfect 4-0 weekend showcasing his elite playmaking ability. He can make shots from the perimeter, finish against size at the rim, make any pass on the floor, and defend the ball at a high-level. Very interesting Class of 2027 prospect.
Perkins is so quick it almost looks like he was toying with the defense today. When St. Francis tried to apply their own pressure to him, he made one quick move and sped by them. He was able to put them in a hostage dribble and the entire floor opened up for him and his teammates. He is a great and sharp change of directions on a dime. He was able to get to whatever spot he needed to on the court with his quickness.
Perkins does a little bit of and left his mark on the game as a scorer in the 2nd half fighting off Big Walnut’s (OH) comeback efforts. He made unselfish plays to get his teammates involved. He also was able to get his hands on a few steals and turn defense to offense. Perkins had 6 points with a three pointer. I would like to see Perkins become more efficient from the charity stripe.
One of the best on ball defenders in his class, Perkins is a pest on the defensive end of the court. Also playing with the shiftiness to blow by the primary defender on the ball, Perkins seems to be on a similar trajectory to his brother Tai who is a Division I commit. With state title aspirations, Westerville North will be relying upon with Sophomore class to play in big moments, we’ll see if they are ready for the bright lights of playoff action and able to lead the Warriors further than they’ve gone before.
Perkins is a sophomore who is ready for the big games and moments. When Westerville North had a slow first half and start he was the main player that kept them in it. His quick and shifty moves let him get to the rim easily. He slivered through the lane and scored a lot of buckets that way. He then started to force a ton of turnovers. This was getting in passing lanes and causing havoc in the trapping press. Perkins was also impressed with 2 ankle-breaking moves in the second half.
Perkins had a big role last year for a good Westerville North squad and I think you can expect the same this year. He is a super quick guard who can break you down and blow by you but he doesn’t over-dribble. He seems to have a better understanding this year that he can simply get by you and create for himself or others. He finishes well at the rim for his size. A big thing for him this year will be the ability to knock down the open shots but I think he proved to me he can over the aau and scrimmages this year.
Nova Village won the 16 U championship and Perkins playing up was an impactful piece this weekend. Always bringing defense and energy with his ball pressure and quickness, Perkins wants to push the pace and brings a spark to his team. With a couple steals that turned into layups and some nasty crossovers to get to the paint, Perkins helped turn a tight semifinal game in the first half into a running clock blowout for his team. Despite being one of the smallest players on the court, Perkins has found ways to be impactful playing up an age group and should help Westerville North this season with their deep guard rotation.
The lefty’s game is most dangerous down-hill. Perkins is fearless, finishing through contact and with creativity in traffic. He’s also just flat-out fast. Added a few jumpers from the outside to round out his performance.
