The biggest Ohio stock riser of the weekend, Scales looks much improved from the winter as he’s playing with a different level of aggressiveness and motor. Scales has maintained his bigger frame and when he can seal you underneath the basket it’s almost always two points, sometimes three if the defense fouls him while he goes up. Scales has been adamant about catching the ball lower on the block and using his soft touch and quick footwork to his advantage in the paint. Recently picking up his first offer to Wright State University after their team camp, Scales had a big weekend in Lexington and added to his Division I interest.
One of the most productive bigs in the greater Cincinnati area, Scales made his presence felt on Friday night. The big fella is a load to handle in the paint and when you combine his size and frame with good footwork and soft touch at the rim, you get a player who can score 20+ points with ease. Scales is crafty as a below the rim finisher, using euro-steps, step throughs and jump stops to get space to score on balance. Scales also blocked a couple of shots as his size and length is also able to make an impact defensively. Look out for Scales as a senior with Cincinnati La Salle.
One of the more dominant high school bigs in the 2027 class, Scales once again showed why he’s one of the top players in the GCL. With excellent pick and roll chemistry with Cj DavisCjDavis

, Scales had a couple dunks and layups off rolls to the rim from screens. Despite his size, Scales is athletic enough to throw down powerful dunks that got the strong traveling La Salle crowd going crazy. Overall I’m a big fan of Scales patience with the ball in his hands, his physicality and touch around the basket. Excited to see what La Salle can do the rest of this season as they should contend for a GCL-South title and could be even better next season.
I was really impressed by Scales during the Ohio Valley Hoops Classic as he pushed La Salle to a key early season win. The improved confidence with the ball in his hands and quickly scoring with his back to the basket. Scales is shooting over 80% from the field through three games and La Salle is 3-0. With plenty of other marquee games on their schedule, La Salle will have plenty more opportunities to catch the attention of Cincinnati’s basketball scene.
One of the most improved players I’ve seen this season, Scales was dominant with his back to the basket as Hilliard Bradley had nobody who had the height or strength to stop him in the post. Scales didn’t waste any time with the ball in his hands and when he caught it, quickly went over his left shoulder to score. His size also allowed him to get multiple putbacks in the final minute to seal a tight victory over one of the top teams in Columbus.
Another GCL-South big, Scales is very different from the first one we mentioned due to obvious differences in frame. Scales is a punishing back to the basket big who impressed me with La Salle in June. Scales can catch and finish at the rim and also sets strong screens. Scales also drew praise for Queen City Prophets
at the grassroots level this summer as well. La Salle will be looking to move up the GCL-South standings this winter and Scales should be a big part of their success this winter.
La Salle has some decent size this season and Scales stood out as a wide presence in the paint with soft hands and the ability to finish in traffic. A new name for myself, Scales averaged just 3.6 PPG as a Sophomore but looks ready to be a key piece for the Lancers this season. Scales also has the size where he can grab his own miss and score on putbacks in the paint. GCL-South teams will always have size so Scales will be a key piece for La Salle to battle against some of the other top teams in the conference.
