High school teammates with Scales, Davis had numerous assists to his big man in the pick and roll game on Friday evening. Davis is an athletic off guard who has a quick first step and displayed patience in the pick and roll. Defensively, Davis was flying around the court causing havoc and forcing turnovers. The key for Davis will be to develop a reliable jump-shot, as defenses right now can sag off of him on the perimeter. If Davis has a strong offseason I’d expect him to be one of the most impactful players in the GCL-South next winter.

I’m a big fan of this La Salle team after a statement win to open their season and sophomore Cj Davis Cj Davis 6'1" | SG La Salle | 2028 State OH is a prime candidate to breakout in the Cincinnati area this year. Davis is an elite defender with a long wingspan and quick feet. Davis also took a charge and provided tough help-side defense when players tried attacking off the dribble. Improving as a ball handler, Davis was getting to his spots and making plays as a finisher and distributor. Hoping to see Davis continue to improve as an outside shooter, Davis form is solid and he had the confidence to let a couple open ones fly from the corner. Lot of long-term upside with Davis who is taking the step to becoming an impactful high school player.

I was very intrigued with Davis after catching him with La Salle as a freshman, making a lot of plays defensively and having an athletic build for his age. Flash forward to this summer and Davis has become a primary scoring option for his team and is starting to show more confidence shooting the basketball from 3-point range. If Davis can consistently knock down 3-point shots, he’ll be an intriguing college prospect thanks to the other ways he can impact the game.

I really liked what I saw from Davis defensively for La Salle as he was one of the only freshman to carve out a role on a GCL-South varsity squad. Still has some development to make offensively, especially as a shooter but I loved the defensive intensity he brought to the floor. Not many freshman are communicating on defense and being in the right spots as a help-side defender. Very intrigued to see how Davis develops offensively over the next few years.

A new name, Davis came off the bench and the freshman looked poised and ready to contribute at the varsity level. I was very impressed with Davis defensively as he was talking on defense, moving his feet and using his length to cause steals. I am really intrigued by the physical frame Davis has with a long wingspan and a body that will likely grow and fill out as he matures. I didn’t see much in the half-court offensively, adding confidence and making shots from the perimeter should be the next steps in his development. A name you’ll be hearing more about in the coming years out of Cincinnati.
