The top performer from the Prep Hoops Sophomore ID camp, Roddy came out with a point to prove that day and was showing off his impressive scoring ability in a camp setting. Reynoldsburg has a very talented team and despite a season opening loss to Lutheran East, the Raiders have plenty of important games coming up on their schedule to grab the attention of central Ohio and beyond.

Physical combo guard that once he sees a shot go in, he’s ultra aggressive looking to keep adding on. Went a stretch of scoring eight straight points, but was just as impressive defensively in that stretch, pressuring the ball as well as being a solid rebounding guard. Strong frame that can play through contact and still finish plays at the rim.

If I was awarding a camp MVP award, I would have to say Roddy deserves the title. Clearly taking the event personally, Roddy was getting busy on the offensive end of the court getting wherever he wanted off the dribble and making some ludicrous 3-point shots. With a handful of seniors graduating from Reynoldsburg last season, Roddy is now a primary option as a sophomore and based on what he showed on Saturday, he’s ready to take that next step for his team. Incredibly impressed with how productive Roddy was and how hard he competed throughout the day.

Roddy came onto the scene as a freshman, playing a big role for Reynoldsburg, he’s now a starting piece for the Raiders after they graduated a few seniors and he impressed in June. Roddy is a hard-nosed defender who had a handful of steals and provided excellent on-ball defense. I’ve been really impressed by Roddy’s improvement as a 3-point shooter as he made some tough shots from the outside but could work to create easier looks from the floor. One of the most productive underclassmen in Ohio is set for a big statistical season as a Sophomore.

Seeing Roddy in a bigger role showed me the true player he is. He is a very strong guard who bullies his way to the rim. He was in constant attack mode and did not settle for anything. He did this because no one could stop him from getting to the rim. He finished well with contact and in traffic. He is best in transition and beating defenders to the rim. Roddy showed me a lot in an attacking and scoring first role.

Roddy had one of the best debut performances I’ve seen from a freshman as he stepped up big for Reynoldsburg in their season opening win Vs Toledo Whitmer by providing a spark off the bench as a defender, athlete and slasher. One of the already more physically built freshman in the state of Ohio, Roddy is built to produce at a high level for a team that made the Division I state title game. With a few notable seniors graduating but still a pair of Division I commits set to return next season, Roddy should play a featured role on a Reynoldsburg squad that should still get a lot of attention around Ohio.

What I love about Roddy’s game is he’s playing on a team with four upperclassmen Division I recruits and as a freshman he usually comes in and makes a big impact as a role piece on arguably the most talented team in Ohio. Roddy got a couple blocks, had some impressive passes including a split off the dribble that led to a drop off for a layup. Roddy also went hard after offensive rebounds and even knocked down a 3-pointer after making a fake pass to freeze the defense. One of the best glue guys in Ohio as a freshman, look for Roddy’s role to expand as he gets more experience.

On a team with four prospects already holding Division I offers (3 of them committed) it was a freshman who really turned the tides for Reynoldsburg on Saturday. Roddy came off the bench and immediately flipped the game by making a lot of little plays on both ends. Roddy started the game with a closeout attack for a layup and then got a breakaway slam dunk that got the crowd on their feet. He followed that up with a couple tough rebounds and steals and then threw back-to-back alley oop passes to teammates for slam dunks that got the crowd going crazy. Really impressed with how Roddy impacted the game without scoring, a rare trait for freshman.
