Expert Analysis
Andrew Baxley | Prep Hoops Scout
Rooths showed some of the charts defensive attributes in South Carolina this weekend. Listed at 6’7″ with a plus wingspan, he has the frame to affect shots against several different defensive assignments. Specifically, he made a big-time play in the third quarter where he went 84 feet to chase down a ball-handler a stuff their shot at the rack. On the offensive end, Khani fed off his teammates to make some big shots. He only had 8 points, but 5 of them came on the back of big IMG runs including a pretty emphatic transition dunk. To go with those 8 points, he put up 3 blocks and 2 steals in their win over La Lumiere.

The 6-8 senior forward and Michigan commit has a combination skillset of length and speed on both ends of the floor. Rooths is a dominant wing where he can cover his spots as well as score on all three levels. On the defensive end of the floor, he is a matchup nightmare where he guards positions 1 through 5 using his length to challenge opposing shots around the rim. He’s not your perennial threat to knock down shots from the perimeter but he has a strong tendency to knock down shots off the bounce as well as off the catch.

, A 6-7 small forward is a versatile prospect on both ends of the floor as he can guard multiple positions using his length and speed. On the offensive end, Rooths does a great job at finishing around the rim while drawing contact and get to the foul line at a high level. Rooths will look to improve his catch-and-shoot ability and get his teammates involved more often. Look for Rooths to be more aggressive at finishing around the rim as well as continue to improve his 3-point shooting this season.
