I rarely mention prospects from other states, but it would be a mistake not to acknowledge Asprilla’s standout performance yesterday against Plymouth Whitemarsh at the Black Cager event. Asprilla is a legitimate 7-footer with an impressive interior skill set. His post moves were unstoppable, and he crashed the offensive glass relentlessly for second chance points. Asprilla also hit a few elbow jumpers and flashed the ability to knock down threes. For a 2026 big man he owns polished footwork. At the defensive end Asprilla provided intimidating rim protection and grabbed every rebound.

The physically imposing center turned in a big sophomore campaign and looks every bit like a power-5 level recruit early in his career. He will have to anchor the Don Bosco defense and will face an athletic Bishop O’Connell team that will have to find an answer for him on the interior.

Maybe the biggest prospect I watched all day, and it was in a 15 U game. Asprilla takes up a ton of space in the paint and had a huge impact on both ends of the court. Defensively was where he really controlled the game early with a handful of blocks and preventing opposing guards from even looking to try and drive to the cup. On the offensive end, Asprilla had his most success simply attacking the offensive glass and using his size and strength advantage. Many times, Asprilla would either come down with the rebound or tap it up in the air and let another teammate come down with it. Offensively, Asprilla had a couple finishes over shorter defenders that were impressive but is currently a major work in progress in terms of decision making and finishing ability. Tons of upside on this 2026 big man who will be heard from a lot on the east coast over the next couple of years.
