And in this outing, Baldwin’s ability to create off the bounce proved valuable, providing sentiments of a scoring pop— impressing the most where his ability to change pace, attack defensive gaps, and finish with either hand gave him a valuable slashing dimension, ultimately creating separation off the dribble and finding avenues to penetrate the paint attacking decisively in the open floor and navigating different half court defenses.

Between graduations and transfers, Baldwin is one of just two returning contributors for the Marauders and looked comfortable stepping up from sixth-man to a leading role while quarterbacking a tight win over Roman Catholic (PA). In a game that was starved for offense for extended stretches, Baldwin’s spark provided the separation as he weaved downhill in the open floor and the halfcourt for slick finishes at the rim with either hand. He’s a dangerous pullup shooter when he gets into a rhythm and brings consistent fire to the defensive end as a point-of-attack stopper. Baldwin’s ability to pressure the rim while operating comfortably in the in between area made him difficult to contain in this matchup against St. Joe’s Regional— employing sharp change of pace in different PnR and DHO actions as well as in transition to turn the corner, get downhill and finish at the rim, while at the same time attacking straight line driving angles off the catch and even showing effective counters off the bounce when driving angles were cut off, featuring a compelling mix of pull up jumpers and turn around runners.

Baldwin is one of the top guard prospects in the class and should put it on display this season. The 5’10 guard has a tight handle, which he uses to get into the paint and is a crafty finisher around the rim. Baldwin can also score in the mid-range and rarely forces shots in the mid-range. He threads passes to his teammates into the half court and slides his feet on the defensive end. Baldwin is a talented guard prospect who has the potential to make an All-State team as he’ll have the ball in his hands more.

Amid some late offseason roster changes, increased opportunities and augmented on ball volume projects to be on the horizon for Dallas Baldwin Dallas Baldwin 5'10" | PG St. Peter’s Prep | 2029 State NJ ‘s workload entering his sophomore season, and looked extremely comfortable filling that void and replacing a lot of the lost scoring production. Highlighted by an efficient blend of rim pressure and mid range area shot making, Baldwin was impressive in picking his spots— using creative ball handling to manipulate defenders and create separation for smooth mid range pull ups and turn around jumpers, capitalizing on defensive lapses in transition and leveraging his quickness for easy at the rim finishes, instinctively moving well without the ball and finding open space for backdoor cuts, and even attacking closeouts to get downhill in the half court when the defensive was forced into rotations.

Baldwin has an opportunity to take a significant step forward this season. With graduation and transfers opening up touches at St. Peter’s Prep, the sophomore enters the year as one of the more proven players on the roster and looked ready for the increased responsibility Saturday. He can create his own offense, get to his spots and consistently find his way into the paint. After leading Lightning’s 15U group in scoring, Baldwin looks capable of carrying that production into a much larger role at SPP.

From May on, Baldwin evolved into the go-to scorer for a NY Lightning unit that was competitive all year long. A quick and crafty lead guard who excelled at getting his own shot and putting up points on all three levels, he is set up to step into a bigger role at St. Peter’s this season.

Baldwin is on the heels of a terrific spring and summer that saw him emerge as a leading scorer and facilitator for his NY Lightning 15U EYBL team and if his showing late last week is a reflection of the momentum he’s generating heading into his sophomore season, then he definitely will be a name to keep a close eye on and what his impact could look like with a greater workload— confidence and efficiency as a perimeter shooter while mixing in some crafty finishes around the basket when exploiting driving angles coupled with the court vision to thread passes to open teammates as a distributor.

A legitimate instant impact point guard who hung his hat on doing whatever the game called for Baldwin excelled at being extremely productive in the minutes he was provided, particularly as a decision maker— combining sharp court vision with quickness to penetrate the paint and effectively distribute the ball, crafty finishing around the rim, highlighting his ability to turn the corner and attack off the dribble and handling defensive pressure well staying composed and avoiding the tendency to play too fast.
