It came in losing fashion and without a gaudy stat line but Ferdinand nonetheless stood out with his inside-out skillset up front. He was effective playing tough inside on the block while also stepping out comfortably as a floor-spacer in both spotup and pick-and-pop situations. Ferdinand showed an impressive ability to read the floor from the post, whipping smart passes out of double teams. He should have small-college programs knocking down his door and has a chance to impact the scholarship level down the line with his versatile frontcourt skillset.

has quietly developed into a compelling and multifaceted presence in the frontcourt for St. Peter’s and once again demonstrated his value in the midst of St. Peter’s capturing another Hudson County title. What was one of Ferdinand’s most impressive performances to date, Ferdinand effectively balanced intriguing finesse with physical and hard nosed interior play— making his presence known inside with strong rim running in transition, slipping ball screens for easy finishes around the basket, being effective as a roller in different PnR actions, rejecting DHO’s to attack driving angles and get to the basket, and catching dump offs in transition. Countering his physicality and bruising interior play, Ferdinand with his intriguing shooting touch, flashed both his pick and pop ability and mid range area shot making off the catch.

has soundlessly emerged as an intricate and intriguing presence in the frontcourt for this St. Peter’s group— showcasing his value with a versatile skillset highlighted by an overall strong all around performance in this narrow loss to Bergen Catholic. Developing into a real threat to knock down outside shots, Ferdinand flashed his floor spacing ability early on before countering his shooting touch with his physicality and bruising play on the interior— being impactful on the offensive glass for tough putbacks while also flashing his back to the basket game in the low post, particularly with his ability to both play make for others and create for himself out of touches on the block.

The Marauders’ backcourt duo of D1 commits draw much of the acclaim, but Ferdinand has quietly become an important piece up front, as he showed with a well-rounded outing in a tight loss to The Patrick School. A skilled southpaw forward, Ferdinand showed his inside-out versatility throughout the game. He operated effectively out of trail and pick-and-pop situations as a threat to knock down the 3 or flow smoothly into dribble handoffs. He operates well off the bounce for his size and also used his size and strength to carve out space inside for soft-touch finishes. While a bit limited athletically, Ferdinand should draw attention from scholarship-level programs this winter with his feel and versatility on the offensive end.
