Watlington did a great job for Team CP3 17u EYBL this past weekend as they went 2-1 in Atlanta. For the session, he averaged 11.3 Points, 5.3 Rebounds, 2.0 Assists, and 1.0 Steals per game on 44/36/91 shooting splits. Watlington’s ability and willingness to be a secondary playmaker is shining with this group as he’s operating with efficiency from every level and making good decisions with the basketball. Watlington shot a decent volume from three and if he can maintain this percentage from distance, it will certainly bode well for his stock moving forward. Watlington is a no brainer division one prospect and is showing real growth in his 17u summer with what the early returns are showing.

Watlington continues to impress with his play at The Burlington School with his rapid improvement as a full time point guard over the course of this season being what shines the brightest in my eyes. His blend of positional size, vision, and finishing ability make him a weapon in both the half court and open floor. TBS has played a monster schedule in preparation for an NCISAA 2A title run. They’re 14-9 through the gauntlet thus far and Watlington is averaging 11.5 Points, 5.9 Rebounds, 6.3 Assists, and 1.4 Steals. He’s doing all of that on 43/24/73 splits as well. Despite not being a super efficient threat from beyond the arc, Watlington is able to completely impact the game and hit the occasional shot from deep to keep the defense honest. His playmaking is his calling card and as the outside touch continues to develop, Watlington will only make himself a more and more complete offensive weapon.

Watlington is a very interesting player with his ability to impact the game in a variety of ways. He’s got great positional size, a slippery handle, and a dynamic transition game that make him a true presence on the floor. He’s great on the ball in ball screen situations, and is a threat off the ball as a shooter. Defensively, he uses his long arms and quick feet to create havoc and cause turnovers with high frequency.

Watlington is another standout from Team CP3 E16 on Saturday. He is a microwave scorer, capable of taking over a game in an instant. Karon did just that in their opener, hitting a left-corner three, a one-dribble pull-up, and a left-corner three all in quick succession. Watlington also has a good handle and favors a behind-the-back dribble in traffic. Watlington had 11 points and 2 assists in the win, playing only a few second-half minutes like Kendrick.

Watlington was impressive as BCA’s primary ball-handler and playmaker in the open court, especially down the stretch. He showed tremendous growth from their season-opener as he was more deliberate on drives in getting to the paint and finishing strong in traffic. He’s a heady guard/wing prospect with a bright future in the 2027 class.

Watlington was a spark for Burlington Christian Academy, especially on the offensive end. He’s a young name in the 2027 class to track given his ability to stroke it from the perimeter and defend multiple roles on the floor. He finished with 17 points for Burlington Christian Academy despite the result.
