Expert Analysis
Robbie Hodin | Prep Hoops Scout
Kabori was likely the most physically imposing player at the showcase. The 6-foot-10 forward is big and strong and has great vertical athleticism, all of which allow him to excel as a rebounder and rim protector. He tried his luck at some outside shots during the showcase and although he didn’t make many, his shot looks decent and I could see it improving as the years go on. He’s certainly still learning how to use his size around the rim, but he shows some flashes of great rim running capabilities. I could see some low major D1’s and D2 schools taking a flyer on Kabori as a long-term prospect with lots of potential.

Kabori impressed with his length and his activity throughout his play. He is as long as a country mile. He can guard multiple positions. He has great timing when going up to contest a shot. He runs the floor like a deer. Kabori is also a threat from the dunker spots. He also showed that he can space the floor from behind the arc. He would be a great late add for a scholarship program.

Kabori has shown flashes of brilliance over the years, with a strikingly long and limber frame to go with a diverse skillset on either end of the floor, but has struggled to carve out his niche at times among talent-laden lineups in both his scholastic and AAU settings. Suiting up on the MHC this spring, he’ll look to establish some momentum for himself while showcasing his talent as a jumbo lefty Swiss-army forward. A dynamic slasher with workable ball skills and a quick first step to blow past opposing forwards, Kabori is most natural on the perimeter but has improved with his sense for using his size and length to make an impact inside as well. His highest upside lies on the defensive end, where he has the physical tools to profile as a stopper against premier scoring wings with ability to switch across the lineup. While his game is still rough around the edges, a scholarship-level program could wind up looking really smart should they decide to take a chance on molding Kabori’s considerable set of tools at the next level.

Kabori is a menace on the defensive end of the floor. The 6-foot-10 big man is ridiculously long and athletic and pairs those rare physical tools with some good timing and rim-protecting instincts. The senior forward made the paint a no-fly zone for opposing players all Saturday. Offensively, Kabori has a ways to go in terms of feeling comfortable in his body and adding lots of value from a skills perspective. However, he did show off a decent-looking outside shot, which could be a good sign for his future.

Rise: +17
Kabori has continued to see his stock rise this spring while running with Expressions Elite on the EYBL circuit. The high motor forward has popped in spurts this spring as both a rim finisher and a rim protector. One of his best attributes continues to be how hard he plays. He does a great job as a rim runner in transition, is relentless in pursuit of the basketball on the glass, and has great instincts as a shot blocker off the ball. Although lean, he isn’t afraid to mix it up in the paint and has proven capable of making up for his physicality with his athleticism. He’s on the D1 radar and should only continue to see his stock rise this summer.
