But what impressed me most was seeing flashes of him reading the floor before making his move. He knows how to manipulate defenses with his movement as he looks to score. But what if he used that same mindset to get teammates involved? I think that would only add to his gam and make him more dangerous. He has a scoring instinct, and with a push to add playmaking, I feel that he’ll be much more difficult to guard. His offensive firepower pushed 7070 Athletics to an undefeated weekend as he had some stretches in which he scored 4-5 times in a row. The next step is becoming just as impactful by creating opportunities for everyone around him while continuing to embrace the defensive end as well. He’s scratching the surface and still is one of the class’s best. 

Williams rise in the rankings is a direct reflection of the impact he made every night this season. Averaging 20.3 points per game, he proved to be one of the most reliable and consistent scoring options in his class. What separates him is not just the production, but how he gets it with relentless attacking off the dribble, breaking down defenders and finishing strong at the rim. His ability to draw multiple defenders shows the level of respect he commands, and he consistently made the right reads when defenses collapsed. Beyond scoring he set the tone as the heartbeat of his team, bringing toughness and leadership on both ends. Williams has turned into a must see player, showing a complete and confident game all weekend. His handle stood out immediately, allowing him to break pressure and control the tempo with ease. He consistently got into the lane, finishing with either hand and making tough plays in traffic. Beyond scoring he did a great job setting up teammates, creating opportunities and keeping the offense flowing. He played with a high level of confidence, never backing down and embracing big moments. Williams’ combination of ball control, playmaking and finishing ability made him one of the most exciting and effective guards at the event

Williams continues to prove he belongs, building off a strong season where he was one of the biggest stock risers in the entire state, in my opinion, and now he’s putting it together despite playing 17U. He plays with confidence and controlled pace, and shows growth as a playmaker. When the opposing team went into zone, he’s the one who read it and started making reads to break the zone. He’s often regarded as just a scorer, and while he scored efficiently, he was a guard who handled pressure. What stood out was his feel and composure. Big Day 1 for him as he continues to elevate his game.

J’Rell Williams J’Rell Williams 6'1" | SG Pueblo South | 2028 State CO will be the top player to keep your eyes peeled for in his Sweet 16 matchup against Lewis Palmer. Williams is a complete ball player with immense court awareness alongside elite shot-creating skills. The proof is in the pudding, chalking up an intimidating 20.3 PPG, 4.3 RPG, and 1.4 SPG throughout the regular season. There isn’t a doubt in my mind that Williams will dominate against Lewis-Palmer, and it’ll be interesting to see the defensive scheme that Pueblo South comes up with to slow him down. Regardless, Williams has had an impeccable season as a sophomore, where the sky is the limit for him to grow and develop even more.

Williams has been a force for Pueblo South all season, averaging 19.9 points per game. Williams attacks the rim with confidence and authority, consistently drawing defenders and often commanding double teams. His scoring ability is versatile and he can finish through contact, pull up for mid range shots, or hit from deep which makes him tough to guard. In the playoffs it’s almost guaranteed he’ll reach double digits, and his ability to create offense for himself and teammates will be key for Pueblo South’s success

J’Rell Williams J’Rell Williams 6'1" | SG Pueblo South | 2028 State CO has led the Colts this season as the team’s top scorer, tacking on a clutch 20.4 PPG and consistently pacing the offense.  Known for his elusive scoring instincts and ability to shot-create, Williams frequently attacks the basket and takes pride in collapsing opposing defenses with confident mid-range pull-ups. Williams physicality and toughness have made him the Colts’ go-to option in close games, whether driving to the rim or drawing fouls. Even in the tough 6 losses the Colts have so far, Williams has delivered a high volume of scoring that’s kept Pueblo South competitive in league play.

Williams continues on his breakout year as a sophomore who is playing at a high level. He appears to be one of the biggest stock boosters in 2028 and makes a jump to the No.2 scorer in the sophomore class. He averaged 22.8 points a game in January and led his team to a 4-1 record. Pueblo South looks like a team ready to make a playoff push behind their young wing. He’s a versatile player who can play and defend multiple positions, he rebounds at a high level and locks down defensively when called upon. Williams showed consistency across multiple summer events and looks poised for a breakout year. He’s an explosive athlete who thrives attacking downhill, he finishes strong at the rim and takes advantage of mismatches. His competitive edge and ability to create off the dribble stood out against top competition this summer and he did not avoid any matchups to prove himself. With an expanded role coming, expect Williams to be a focal point and a potential riser this season as he had one of the bestter freshman seasons, expecting an even bigger performance in year 2.
